Hazardous Waste is waste with dangerous properties capable of harming human health or the environment. Hazardous waste may come in many forms, including liquids, chemicals, solids gases, and sludges.
Biohazardous Waste is waste that may be contaminated by blood, body fluids or other potentially infectious materials and is often referred to as regulated medical waste. Environmental Health & Safety provides a hazardous and biohazardous waste pickup service to the campus community. Universal Waste is waste that sometimes cannot be disposed of in the regular trash but may have less restrictive requirements than hazardous waste. Examples include: batteries, certain lightbulbs and e-waste. EHS assists with the disposal of CFL lightbulbs, silver-tipped tubes and mercury containing lightbulbs.
