Scholarships & Aid Programs for New Student: Non-Residents
Scholarships are awarded based on merit and need. They are available for students new to Weber State, transfer students and continuing students.
Scholarships are awarded based on criteria such as:
- Academic performance
- Activities or interests
- Community service
- Financial need
- Nonresident
- Academic departments
Unlike student loans, scholarships do not need to be repaid. Depending on the award, they may or may not be renewable.
Students entering Weber State after high school graduation are automatically considered for academic scholarships based on their admissions application. Students interested in need-based and activity-based scholarships . Students entering college more than one year after high school graduation are not automatically considered for academic scholarships and must apply annually. These students are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
New to Weber State: Academic Scholarships
Priority Deadlines:
- Priority date to submit the admissions application, high school transcripts and test scores to the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Office: Feb. 1
- Priority date to accept below academic scholarships: May 1
Academic scholarships for high school graduates are based on a nonresident scholarship index score. This is a calculation of your high school cumulative GPA and your highest ACT/SAT composite score. Available academic scholarships for students new to Weber State include:
→Mt Ogden Scholarship
This four-year (8 semester) award of $9,000 ($4,500 per semester) is applied to out-of-state tuition with a total value of $36,000. To be eligible, students new to Weber State must:
- Meet the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ nonresident scholarship index score of 115 or higher (determined yearly)
- Maintain full-time status (12 credits) and a 2.5 91¶ÌÊÓƵ cumulative GPA
→Golden Spike Scholarship
This four-year (8 semester) award of $8,000 ($4,000 per semester) is applied to out-of-state tuition with a total value of $32,000. To be eligible, students new to Weber State must:
- Meet the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ nonresident scholarship index score of 105-114 (determined yearly)
- Maintain full-time status (12 credits) and a 2.5 91¶ÌÊÓƵ cumulative GPA
→Waterfall Canyon Scholarship
This four-year (8 semester) award of $7,500 ($3,750 per semester) is applied to out-of-state tuition with a total value of $30,000. To be eligible, students new to Weber State must:
- Meet the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ nonresident scholarship index score of 90-104 (determined yearly)
- Maintain full-time status (12 credits) and a 2.5 91¶ÌÊÓƵ cumulative GPA
New Transfer Students: Academic Scholarships
Academic scholarships for transfer students will be determined by the date of admission to the university. Transfer scholarships are competitive and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Scholarships will be awarded year-round.
→Ben Lomond Scholarship
This three-year (6 semester) award of $8,000 ($4,000 per semester) is applied to out-of-state tuition with a total value of $24,000. To be eligible, students new to Weber State must:
- Have a 3.75 cumulative transfer GPA or higher.
- Maintain full-time status (12 credits) and a 2.5 91¶ÌÊÓƵ cumulative GPA
→Skyline Trail Scholarship
This three-year (6 semester) award of $7,500 ($3,750 per semester) is applied to out-of-state tuition with a total value of $22,500. To be eligible, students new to Weber State must:
- Have a 3.5-3.74 cumulative transfer GPA or higher.
- Maintain full-time status (12 credits) and a 2.5 91¶ÌÊÓƵ cumulative GPA
→Antelope Island Scholarship
This three-year (6 semester) award of $4,500 ($2,250 per semester) is applied to out-of-state tuition with a total value of $13,500. To be eligible, students new to Weber State must:
- Have a 3.0-3.49 cumulative transfer GPA or higher.
- Maintain full-time status (12 credits) and a 2.5 91¶ÌÊÓƵ cumulative GPA
→Malan’s Peak Scholarship
This three-year (6 semester) award of $3,500 ($1,750 per semester) is applied to out-of-state tuition with a total value of $10,500. To be eligible, students new to Weber State must:
- Have a 2.75-2.99 cumulative transfer GPA or higher.
- Maintain full-time status (12 credits) and a 2.5 91¶ÌÊÓƵ cumulative GPA
Tuition Incentive Programs
Note: Tuition incentive programs cannot be combined with academic awards.
The Alumni Legacy Program allows children or grandchildren of nonresident 91¶ÌÊÓƵ alumni to pay in-state tuition.
100 Mile Non-Resident Partial Tuition Reduction
Non-resident students living within 100 highway miles of 91¶ÌÊÓƵ are eligible to apply for this tuition reduction. It will pay one-half of the difference between resident and nonresident tuition charges.
Western Undergraduate Exchange Program (WUE)
For undergraduate students from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington and Wyoming. This program offers a reduced tuition level to 150% of Weber State’s resident tuition.

We are partnered with Raise.me so high school students can earn scholarships during 9th-12th grades for achievements such as good grades, community service, test scores, leadership roles and more.
Rather than waiting until being accepted to 91¶ÌÊÓƵ, you can earn scholarships from us now. You may receive an even larger financial aid package based on your complete application for admission, but with Raise.me, you’ll know ahead of time at least how much financial aid you can depend on. Make sure to during your senior year.
