Exploring How Utah Uses Water: The Role of Local Government and Public Policy in Preserving the Great Salt Lake Ecosystem - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to Noon

Presented By: Amy Wicks, Utah Rivers Council | Zach Frankel, Utah Rivers Council | Elizabeth Weight | Lorenzo Long, Ogden City

This in-depth exploration of water policy will offer an understanding of the challenges Utah faces regarding water resources, along with tangible solutions including water conservation tools and policies. Participants will gain insights that can be applied in their communities to promote a sustainable and financially sound future—one that supports a healthy and stable Great Salt Lake ecosystem.

From Data to Decisions: Building Leadership Consensus for Smarter, Energy-Focused Facility Upgrades -

Join us for a comprehensive workshop focused on leveraging data-driven insights from your own facilities to foster engagement and build consensus within your organizations’ key decision-making team, paving the way towards optimized energy performance and reduced operational costs. In these interactive sessions, you will use your own energy data to uncover performance trends, pinpoint opportunities for improvement, assess the suitability of state-of-the-shelf technologies, and craft a strategic roadmap for your organization's future.

Advocacy Action Tools for Bipartisan Policy Solutions - Friday, 1 to 5 p.m.

Presented By: Bill Barron and Karen Jackson, Citizens' Climate Lobby | Andrew Watt, University of Utah

Come explore effective tools for advocating policy solutions that can benefit your community. This session will equip you with advocacy techniques that can be applied at the local, state and national levels of government. Through hands-on activities, including lobbying role-play and impactful writing exercises, you will learn strategies for building political will and advancing bipartisan climate solutions.

Who Should Attend: Policymakers, activists, lobbyists, municipal and state staff/representatives, scientists and community members

Fora.ai: Reshaping Collaboration for Climate and Social Impact - Friday, 1 to 5 p.m.

Presented By: Moira Zellner, Northeastern University

Fora.ai is an intuitive digital environment that enables diverse stakeholder groups to collaboratively and rapidly interact with embedded simulation models to understand real-world socio-environmental challenges and develop innovative, novel and impactful solutions. Stakeholders interact with both the digital environment and one another, while quickly and iteratively creating, revising and testing solutions until a range of varying needs are addressed. Utilizing an example scenario (flooding in a neighborhood) participants will use Fora.ai’s interactive game-board to collectively build green infrastructure solutions.
