Admission Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree

  A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution is required. Students without a bachelor's degree in accounting may require additional coursework (leveling courses), including:

  • ACTG 2010 - Survey of Accounting I
  • ACTG 3110 - Intermediate Financial Accounting I
  • ACTG 3120 - Internmediate Financial Accounting II
  • ACTG 3400 - Survey of Accounting II

  Contact the Master of Taxation Director for more information concerning course equivalents from other universities.

• Two Letters of Recommendation

  Only non-accounting Weber State undergraduate students and students from other schools require letters of recommendation. Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation from professors or employers. All letters should address the applicant's potential for successful graduate study.

• Official Transcripts

  Only students from other schools will require transcripts to be sent to Weber State electronically or via mail.

• Resume
  • Applicants should upload a resume in the online application form.
  • The resume should include telephone numbers, an e-mail address, and a summary of educational background and work experience.
• Online Application

  • All application requirements, including mailing items, must be received before the application deadline.
  • The application portal will display when required items are received.
  • Incomplete online applications will not be accessible after the end of each application cycle. Reapplying individuals should contact the graduate enrollment manager to have their applications reactivated.
  • Each application must be accompanied by a $60 (U.S.) Master of Taxation (MTax) application fee (NON-REFUNDABLE) ($95 for international / non-U.S. resident applicants) (NON-REFUNDABLE). The fee may be paid online with a credit card using the online application form. Personal checks or money orders are also accepted and should be made payable to 91¶ÌÊÓƵ and sent to the MTax Program Office at the address below. Make sure your name is written clearly on your check. 
  • The MTax Admission Committee can only review an application once payment is received.
  • Print and keep a copy of your completed application for your records.
• International Applicants

  The individual graduate program must first admit an international graduate student before processing their paperwork. International applicants must send their official copies of international transcript evaluations and TOEFL scores (or equivalent) directly to the School of Accounting & Taxation.
