Mentor Stipends

  • The maximum faculty mentor compensation is $3,000, based on expected time commitment. 
  • Faculty payments are supplemental pay and are subject to taxes and benefits.

Student Stipends

  • The total student stipend amount is based on the expected number of hours (based on best estimate by mentor) the student will perform research using a $14/hour wage rate. The maximum that can be requested per student team is $6,000.
    • A team can be 1 or more students.
      Ex: Student A works 100 hrs= $1,400
      Student B works 200 hrs= $2,800
      Total student stipend=$4,200
  • To accept stipends, the student will be considered a 91¶ÌÊÓƵ employee and must complete a W-2 Form and income tax will be withheld.
  • Students will be paid every 2 weeks.

Mentor Expectations

  • Identify student researcher(s)
  • Attend a mandatory orientation session May 6, 2024
  • Engage in an intensive summer research experience and mentor undergraduate students.
  • Complete periodic surveys and progress reports:
    • Mid-project evaluation of student progress
    • End of project evaluation of student progress and program survey

Student Expectations

  • Students must be 91¶ÌÊÓƵ undergraduate students to be eligible.
  • Attend a mandatory orientation session May 6, 2024
  • Engage in an intensive summer research experience mentored by a full-time Weber State facuty member.
  • Practice goal-setting and critical self-reflection through research.
  • Complete periodic surveys and progress reports:
    • Mid-project self-evaluation 
    • End of project self-evaluation and program survey
  • Present the research at the following regional conferences (exeptions may be made for graduating students):
    • Fall 2024 or Spring 2025 Research and Engagement Symposium
    • Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters (Spring 2025, date and location to be announced)
