Opportunities to Earn College Credit for Current Industry Certifications
If you have any of the following current industry certifications, you may be eligible to earn college credit.
- CompTIA A+ is equivalent to NET 2200
- CompTIA Network+ is equivalent to NET 2300
- CompTIA Linux+ is equivalent to NET 2210
- CompTIA Security+ and challenge exam are equivalent to NET 3300
- Cisco CCNA and challenge exam are equivalent to NET 2415
How is credit earned:
Credit is earned through an Application for Credit form, which the School of Computing will help you process. There is a $10 recording fee to earn credit.
In order to receive credit:
- Provide copy of current certification certificate or credential
- Have 30 earned credit hours at Weber State
- Have a 2.25 GPA
- Challenge exams (NET 2415 and NET 3300) can be scheduled through the School of Computing department administrative assistant. More information on School of Computing challenge exams can be found here: School of Computing Challenge Exams.
How to earn you CompTIA certifications through Weber Coursework:
CompTIA A+:
NET 2200 will help prepare you to take the certification exam, but is not an A+ prep course. You can take the A+ exam on your own. If you use your Weber email address you can get a significant discount.
CompTIA Network+:
NET 2300 will help prepare you to take the certification exam, but is not an Network+ prep course. You can take the Network+ exam on your own.
If you use your Weber email address you can get a significant discount.
CompTIA Linux+:
NET 2210 will help prepare you to take the exam, but is not a Linux+ prep course. You can take the Linux+ exam on your own.
If you use your Weber email address you can get a significant discount.
CompTIA Security+:
As of Fall 2023 91¶ÌÊÓƵ, NET 3300 uses the Security+ certification exam for the course final. The exam must be taken in a Pearson testing center and, if you pass the CompTIA Security+ certification exam, you will earn your CompTIA Security+ certification.
