Center for Technology Outreach

 

Mission: 

The Center for Technology Outreach utilizes resources, partnerships, and faculty expertise to promote and recruit for the Engineering, Applied Science & Technology College, which benefits future learners, business, industry, education, government, and society through our commitment to offer high-quality programs and outreach.

 

Vision:

Offer high-quality programs, create meaningful experiences, promote community engagement, respect all persons and ideas, and promote greater access and opportunity for local community members and underrepresented populations to pursue and participate in Engineering, Applied Science and Technology K-12 programs.  Spring Afterschool Programs and Summer Camps registrations are open now. Mechanical Monday provides 7 hands-on engineering challenges. It is designed to help students build confidence in their ability to create something useful from raw materials. Each week students will learn principles of mechanical engineering.  

Ages: 7-13
Dates: April 8 - May 1, 2025
Time: 5:30-6:30 pm

In Snapology's Creature Creator program, your animal lover will build a variety of robotic creatures that respond to each of their programmed commands. Builds - Bee, Caterpillar, Dinosaur, Dolphin, Gorilla, Mantis, Snake, Spider

Cost: $20
You will learn to create engaging and fun video games. You will also use Blender and Photoshop to create simple 3D models and textures that can be imported into games. Additionally, you will learn scripting in Unity to develop interaction and player controls.

Girls Scout STEM Day

Grades: 7-12
Dates: April 12, 2025
Time: 1-4:30 pm
Girl Scouts of Utah visit 91¶ÌÊÓƵ's Campus to explore a variety of STEM-related fields through hands-on activities and hearing from inspiring female mentors who work in the field.

Grades: 9-12
Dates: June 2 - June 6, 2025
School of Computing faculty provide a week long camp dedicated to the popular pursuit of designing video games.

Grades: 7-9
June 2 - July 17, 2025
Seven week summer academic program for high achieving students.  Students attend daily classes in math, science and technology.

Join us for an exciting camp in partnership with Ken Garff Esports, where you'll dive into the worlds of Cybersecurity, Game Development, and Drone Technologies. Explore cutting-edge skills, engage in hands-on activities, and take your tech knowledge to the next level!

Build and take home your own model car in this one-day camp at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ's Davis campus. Tour our state-of-the-art shop to explore engine mechanics and the machines that power our world. Perfect for aspiring mechanics or the curious!

Rev It Up Summer Camp: Build & Drive is the perfect way to dive into the world of cars and mechanics! Spend the day building your very own model car and take it home with you at the end of the camp. Along the way, you'll learn the basics of mechanics and how vehicles work, all while having fun with hands-on projects!

Ages: 12-14
Dates: August 4-8
Times: 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

Students will apply engineering principles to create energy projects powered by wind, water, and homemade batteries. Supported by professional engineers, they’ll engage in hands-on activities.

Explore exciting career opportunities in energy engineering! Learn from industry professionals about the diverse career paths in sustainable energy, the skills and education needed to succeed, and how engineers are shaping the future of energy.

This 7-week program provides two complimentary college courses in engineering and technology, featuring hands-on activities, tutoring, mentorship, and industry field trips.

The FIRST LEGO League Challenge Summer Camp is a one-week program hosted at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ as part of our Engineering, Applied Science, and Technology College. This camp is designed to expose young minds to robotics and teamwork skills through the endless possibilities of LEGO.

The engineering design lab at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ is a place where you can explore engineering in everyday life.

 

 

Grades: 2-8

In this exciting class, students will build a variety of military-inspired robotic models. Children will learn about sensors, gears, pulleys, and programming as they create robotic catapults, crossbows, battleships and much more!

Problem solving and fun unite for parents and children as they tackle engineering challenges together and hear from inspiring women in STEM.  

Grades: 4-8
FIRST LEGO League introduces science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to children ages 4-14 through fun, exciting hands-on learning. 

Grades: K-4
In Explore, teams of students ages 6-10 focus on the fundamentals of engineering as they explore real-world problems, learn to design, and code and create unique solutions.
