– The Road to Elektron: A Nuts-and-Bolts Discussion About Renewable Energy Procurement
Christine Mikell is Principal of Enyo Renewable Energy, a MAP joint venture partner. She has 20 years of experience in the energy industry. In 2001, Christine started the renewable energy program for the state of Utah. She worked with rural landowners, county commissioners, utilities, regulators, and legislators to create the groundwork for renewable energy projects. Christine moved from state government to the private sector in 2004, joining Wasatch Wind where she developed the Spanish Fork Wind Farm, the first utility-scale renewable energy project in Utah. In 2011, Christine focused on the completion of the development of the Pioneer and Latigo wind energy projects together totaling more than 140 MW of installed capacity. Both projects reached commercial operation in 2016 and, along with Spanish Fork, are the only operating utility-scale wind energy projects to be constructed in Utah and Wyoming since 2011. In 2016, Christine and her joint venture partner MAP formed Enyo Renewable Energy to develop new utility-scale wind energy and solar PV projects in Utah and Wyoming. Since then, six of her renewable energy projects have either started operations or have signed Power Purchase Agreements and will be built by the end of 2022. These projects total 680 MW ($355 million of investment in Utah) including the Elektron Solar Project which Salt Lake City is the majority purchaser of power. Christine holds a BE in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from the University of Utah.
