Studying Elementary Education at Weber State

Weber State’s elementary education degree provides students who have a passion for education with the knowledge, skills and professional dispositions needed for beginning teachers.

Elementary Education Highlights

While earning your elementary education degree, you can earn an endorsement in dual language immersion, elementary education mathematics or English as a second language.

You can also meet your peers and join in networking opportunities and other events through Weber State’s Future Educators Association and/or Council for Exceptional Children.

You have the option to double major in early childhood education and elementary education, giving you the flexibility to teach pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.

Beyond the Classroom

As an elementary education major, you’ll take part in student-teaching opportunities to learn skills for your future career. You can gain experience through community programs, like Project LIFE, Weber State’s literacy tutoring program, where you’ll receive a free Chromebook to use for the semester.

You’ll be able to demonstrate mastery of the subject matter you teach, use knowledge of child/adolescent development in your teaching, learn how to plan curriculum, use technology and foster communication in an ongoing instructional setting, and collaborate with others to reflect upon your professional teacher preparation

What You CAN DO After Weber

Graduates go on to teach in grades K-8 in local school districts. If you earn your double major in elementary education and early childhood education, you can earn two licenses to teach pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. You’ll also be prepared for Weber State’s Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program. If you have questions, contact a 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Career Advisor.
