Randall Kent, an instructor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ, received his BS in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from the University of Minnesota in 1982. He then received an MS in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1985. His Master’s thesis was entitled “Chemical Composition of the Gases from a Fixed-Bed Coal Gasifier”. After graduation, he joined Morton Thiokol and spent 25 years in Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Testing, and Project Engineering of solid rocket motors. In 2011, Professor Kent joined 91¶ÌÊÓƵ as an Adjunct and became an Instructor in 2016. His specialties are thermodynamics and motor performance of solid rockets, rocket motor stealth and IR decoys for aircraft.
