The Physics Club is the largest of our student organizations. Many students who do not belong to SPS belong to the Physics Club. Physics Club activities include movie nights, at home and in the planetarium, pumpkin smashes, and the annual charity Christmas tree. Membership in the physics club is free.

 

SPS

The Department of Physics maintains an active chapter of the Society of Physics Students (SPS), sponsored by the American Institute of Physics. SPS is an excellent opportunity for students to get together to discuss their interests in physics and astronomy and to form close friendships. Recent activities of our local chapter have included:

  • Attending, sponsoring and leading seminars related to topics in physics and astronomy
  • Taking tours of local industries that employ physics majors
  • Serving as study groups
  • PARTIES!

 

Sigma Xi

The scientific research society. Students actively involved in research are encouraged to join Sigma Xi. Benefits include a subscription to American Scientist and eligibility for competitive grants.
