Enterprise Rentals Hosts Annual Sales Challenge with Weber State Students

OGDEN – The Department of Professional Sales hosted its bi-annual internal sales competition on Tuesday, with 65 students competing. The 2024 competition sponsored by Enterprise Rentals, a premier partner of the program, is one of the highlights of the spring semester. At the event, students have a valuable opportunity to showcase their sales skills in real-life roleplays and situations and win thousands of dollars by placing.

“Team Enterprise had an absolute blast teaming up with 91¶ÌÊÓƵ for their sales competition.” Said Anthony Christensen, the Group Talent Acquisition Manager for Enterprise. “Students came prepared to showcase their remarkable sales abilities, leaving a lasting impression on our team and the judges alike.” Internal sales competitions are a staple of the professional sales department. In the fall semester, faculty hosted an internal competition where students played the role of a
sales development representative (SDR) looking to secure an appointment with a fictional company. At Tuesday’s event, students advanced to the role of an account manager and looked to secure a contract on behalf of Enterprise Rentals, the
sponsoring company. This was the second consecutive year the listed company sponsored the internal competition.

“Enterprise does a phenomenal job supporting our students. We are so lucky to have them on our team.” Said Brock Adams, Associate Professor and Director of the Sales Center. “Having them on campus, providing real-time and real-life feedback to our
students to help them grow professionally, is such a valuable asset for our program. This competition personifies their strength as one of our partners.”

At the event, students were divided into five separate rooms where they roleplayed with actual employees of Enterprise. In a fictional scenario, students were tasked with pitching Enterprise to them, looking to test their skills in overcoming objections and
closing a sale.15 students of the 65 competitors were announced as winners of the event, with each student receiving $200 cash, in addition to possible career opportunities in sales. Typically, local, regional, and national sales competitions connect
potential student hires with the sponsoring company.

“It was a great event, and great opportunity for us as students to help us grow by getting out of our comfort zones” Said Parker Wilson, a senior Professional Sales major from West Point. “Enterprise, in collaboration with the sales program, provides us with an ideal environment to showcase our sales skills.” Said Court Henderson, a freshman Professional Sales major from Fruit Heights. Henderson and Wilcox were winning competitors at the event, taking home cash prizes.

The bi-annual internal sales competitions will remain a staple event in the department for the 2024-25 school year. At these events, professional sales students can showcase their interpersonal sales skills for real financial rewards.
