Top Golf Networking Night Still a Hit

MIDVALE – Over 50 Professional Sales students attended the Top Golf Networking Night in
Midvale, UT, and connected with 20 employers about future career opportunities. The event
highlights some of the best Weber State students in the department, and connects them for
employers who are on the hunt for new sales professionals.

Attending companies are given a bay on the second floor of the Top Golf venue. From there,
students cycle through in 6-minute intervals, connecting with recruiters and discussing the
opportunities of the various sales jobs in their industries. These cycles continued for two hours,
allowing students to see the broad variety of sales positions available to them once they have
their diplomas in hand.

This event varies from regular career fairs held at most colleges in that students are given the
opportunity to sell themselves to the recruiters in a speed-dating format and connect with many
companies in various industries. The venue also plays a role in the event modification as rather
than being housed in a large academic hall, rather, students are connecting in one of the most
popular entertainment venues on the Wasatch Front, that being Top Golf in Midvale.
“Honestly, this is our marquee event, and we love to host it every semester.” said Brock Adams,
Associate Professor, and Director of the Alan E. Hall Center for Sales Excellence. “Since its
inception in 2019, it has been one of the best events, and something students, employers, and
faculty love to do. With this being a career-fair on steroids, we only expect this to continue to
grow in popularity.”

Over 100 guests attended the event in September, and that number will likely increase in the
spring semester of 2024. Enrollment in the Department of Professional Sales has slightly
increased, which means more students will be on the market looking for new opportunities.
