Pro Sales Department Successfully Hosts Annual SDR Competition
OGDEN – The Department of Professional Sales hosted its annual Sales Development Representative (SDR) Competition on Thursday, October 24, showcasing the skills and determination of more than 70 students eager to break into sales and business
development roles. The event, made possible through the generous support of Justin Nielsen, highlighted Weber State’s commitment to preparing students for successful futures in sales and customer relations.
The competition awarded the top six performers, Isaac Clarke, Alyssa Stegen, Paige Thorstensen, Raider Gee, Chet Larger, and Amelia Watson, with $600 in prize money each, recognizing their exceptional skills and professionalism demonstrated throughout
the event. 24 additional pro sales students were awarded $100 gift cards for their achievements, further encouraging a strong foundation for a future career in sales development.
Sponsored by Justin Nielsen, the SDR competition reflects the Professional Sales department’s dedication to fostering real-world skills in a competitive yet supportive environment. The event also provides a unique opportunity for students to build
confidence, gain practical experience, and receive mentorship from industry leaders.
“We're thrilled to offer this opportunity to our students each year,” said Professor Blake Nielson. “The competition allows students to develop critical SDR skills, like effective communication and relationship building, which are essential for success in today's
market. This also allows them to see first-hand what the role of an SDR is, and how they can prepare for this in the future.”
With ongoing support from valued sponsors like Justin Nielsen, Weber State plans to continue this annual tradition, equipping students with the experience, skills, and network they need to excel in sales development roles post-graduation.
