Film Screening: Father's Kingdom

In collaboration with CCEL 

Date: Jan. 15, 2025
Time: 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Location: Shepherd Union, Wildcat Theatre
Description: Join us for a showing of Father's Kingdom (2017). There will be food provided

MLK Jr. Breakfast and March

Hosted by the NAACP Ogden branch and the Marshall White Center

Date: Jan. 20, 2025
Time: 9 a.m. - noon
Location:
Description: Come for breakfast, listening to student speakers, and a march from the Union Station to the Ogden Ampitheatre. Breakfast will be served from 9  to 10:30 a.m.and the march will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Film Screening: Selma

In collaboration with the Stewart Library

Date: Jan. 21, 2025
Time: 2 - 4:30 p.m.
Location: Shepherd Union, Wildcat Theatre
Description: Join us for a showing of Selma (2014). 

MLK Speech Competition & Open Mic

Date: Jan. 23, 2025
Time: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Location: Stewart Library, 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Ogden
Description: In the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision, we invite you to share your dream for a united and harmonious future. What does your ideal world look like? How can we work together to create positive change in our community and beyond?

The speech must be related to the above prompt about unity. The speech is NOT limited to the African American experience, it can be about any demographic or disparity of justice across the globe. The speech must not exceed 5 minutes.

Speeches will be judged on content, delivery and language. There will be prizes for the top 3. 

Light refreshments will be served.
