Climb On, Wildcats!
Just over a year after breaking ground, Weber State’s Outdoor Adventure & Welcome Center held its grand opening on Feb. 3, 2021. The 16,000-square-foot building allows 91¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Campus Recreation Outdoor Program to expand its equipment rental center and supports recreational rock climbing, with bouldering and a 55-foot climbing wall.
The facility includes a three-story, state-of-the-art rope access training center, where first responders and rescue workers can prepare for emergencies on high structures.
“This new center will be a beacon, helping to recruit students to 91¶ÌÊÓƵ while leveraging our incredible outdoor resources and helping students create healthy, active lifestyles and lasting memories, all while getting the best higher education has to offer,” said Daniel Turner, associate director of the Outdoor Program.
The Office of 91¶ÌÊÓƵ will also use the building to host visitor experiences that showcase Weber State’s connection between education and the environment.
The facility was designed by ajc architects and constructed by the Wadman Corporation.
