Every year the Faculty and Staff Mentors Program hosts a Stakeholders Meeting to review the year's accomplishments and award mentoring champions. Mentoring Champion are Faculty and Staff that are selected on the basis of having the most mentoring hours for the year.

Kimberly Love

Bio

Kimberly Love

Kim Love is an educator and mentor who is passionate about service and experiential learning. She spent over 20 years in the non-profit sector, mentoring youth through athletics, music, and international service-learning. In 2015, Kim ventured into the higher education realm as a program administrator in the Division of Online and Continuing Education at the Weber State Community Education Center (CEC). At the CEC she collaborated with industry and community partners to provide educational resources to underserved populations in our community.

In 2018 Kim transitioned to the collaborative work of professional development training for K-12 educators. During this time she also developed the Workforce Ready program to help individuals with large gaps in their work history transition back into the workforce or discover a pathway to higher education. Running this program reignited Kim’s passion for mentoring and helping students discover their inner strength to tackle challenges on their educational journeys. Today, Kim serves as the Director of Programs in the Division of Online and Continuing Education and as an adjunct faculty member for the Sociology department.

Kim also serves as a volunteer on several committees for organizations that support women in higher education and workforce development. She holds a BA in German and BS in Sociology from the University of Utah, a Masters of Community Leadership from Westminster College, and she is a doctoral student in Organizational Leadership at Pepperdine’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology with plans to defend her dissertation in November! In her not so spare time, she enjoys cycling and traveling the world with her husband. She is the mother of four amazing children and a grandmother to six beautiful grandchildren.

Anne Bialowas

Bio

Anne Bialowas

Anne Bialowas earned her doctorate in Communication from the University of Utah and a Master of Arts in Communication from California State University of Sacramento. Anne's primary research area is focused on sport communication and mediated representations of difference and identities. Anne currently is the Chair of the Department of Communication.

Anne’s journey into teaching was inspired by “playing school” while growing up. She never wanted to give detention to a student, so that eliminated her wanting to work in a high school. Anne loves the variety of subjects at the university level. Seeing students improve and expand what they think could be possible excites her. Anne decided to become a mentor to work with students even more so one-on-one on content that expands beyond the classroom. Seeing students grow and also personally learning from the students through the mentoring process is extremely rewarding.

Aside from work, Anne enjoys going on walks and hikes with her family, which includes two girls and two Golden Retriever dogs. She also loves going to the beach.
