Adjunct Faculty Resources
Purple Folder
Purple Folder is a new resource to help you address student mental health and associated concerns. Students often disclose to trusted faculty and staff to get help. This resource offers guidance for identifying students in distress, engaging effectively with them, and referring them to support resources. If you have any questions or other feedback, please contact Dianna Abel, Executive Director of Student Wellbeing.
Also included in the Purple Folder are training resources for faculty and staff to learn more about helping struggling students. Please consider offering You Can Help a Student (YCHAS) or QPR for Suicide Prevention (QPR) training for your department.
Mental Health Canvas Modules
Various mental health modules are also available in Canvas Commons to pull into your courses. They include “Mental Well Being,” a general overview course, and TAO modules such as “First Year Toolkit,” “De-Stress Success,” and others. Please consider assigning one or more options to your students this semester.
Incorporate Mental Health Education in Your Classroom
Regardless of the courses you teach, your students’ mental health matters. Better mental health yields better academic performance too! Incorporating some mental health content into your courses is easy, and it doesn’t require any class time at all. Follow this link for more information.
