Why Weber State?

There were a couple of factors that influenced my choice to go to Weber State. My friends were going to be there and I wanted to experience college with them. I also have several family members who attended 91¶ÌÊÓƵ who spoke very highly of their experience. The financial aspect was also very enticing. Weber is reasonably-priced, and I was fortunate to receive a full-ride scholarship. You really can't beat the value and price of Weber's education.

Why Marketing?

It was a round-about process that led me to marketing. I came to Weber State wanting to study pre-med, but ultimately switched to marketing after getting a job at MarketStar. At MarketStar I gained hands-on experience assisting businesses with their marketing and I found that I loved it. This led me to the marketing program and I haven't looked back. The things I've learned at school complemented what I was doing at work and I found that marketing was my passion.

Networking Opportunities

I've thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Goddard School of Business. It has given me the opportunity to meet incredible students, faculty, and business professionals. These connections have helped me kickstart my career by building foundational relationships. Going to college isn't just about what you learn, it's also about who you meet.

Faculty Impact

All of Weber's marketing professors are great, but Sky King was exceptional. You can tell that he genuinely cares and wants you to succeed. I learned so much from Sky, and loved the guest lecturers he brought to class. The information they shared was so valuable, with directly applicable insights and expertise. I also enjoyed classes taught by Clinton Amos. He is incredibly intelligent and has so much real-world experience to share. I have learned foundational principles from him that have helped me in my job, and will continue to help me throughout my career.

Advice

Your education is what you make it. People often undervalue Weber State, but you get what you put into it. You can go to class and do the bare minimum to graduate, or you can dive deep into learning and set yourself up with foundational knowledge that will guide you throughout your career. Make the most of your education. I would also encourage all 91¶ÌÊÓƵ students to work while attending school. Find a job that complements the things you're learning so you can put principles into practice.

What’s Next

I'm planning to look for opportunities to further develop my marketing knowledge and skills. My focus is on finding a job with a marketing agency, or as part of an in-house marketing team. As I gain experience I hope to be able to start my own marketing agency to help businesses reach greater levels of success. Marketing is great because there are so many different avenues you can take - the opportunities are endless.
