SDDS 2024: Productivity Microcredential
Description:
The SDDS 2024: Productivity micro-credential introduces you to skills in using digital tools and strategies to improve efficiency and effectiveness. The courses in the productivity microcredential are designed to introduce the capabilities to boost your productivity and organizational efficiency.
The Productivity training series path will equip you with skills in communication through Zoom, survey creation and analysis with Qualtrics, and cloud storage utilization for collaborative work. You’ll learn to manage schedules effectively using Google Calendar and improve computer performance through periodic computer hygiene. The series also enhances your data analysis skills and develops your proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Class 1: Advanced Zoom Training | Tuesday, May 21
Description: Learn the newest features released from Zoom in the last year. Some of the new features include user interface Upgrades, AI Companion, Focus Mode, emotes, and improved Team Chat. This class will also include some tips and tricks to get better engagement and collaboration in your Zoom meetings.
Requirements:
- Attend live virtually or watch recording.
- Create a Zoom whiteboard for an upcoming meeting in your department. Include the goal of your meeting, and develop the whiteboard to accomplish that goal.
- Upload your Zoom whiteboard to the microcredential SDDS 2024: Productivity in your Folio account.
Class 2: Cloud Storage Strategies to Boost Your Productivity | May 30
Description: This class is all about unlocking the full potential of cloud storage with a focus on Google Drive and Weber Box. Perfect for current cloud users seeking enhanced efficiency, this class promises to streamline your digital space. Join us to declutter your cloud, organize files for easy access, and share seamlessly without disrupting your workflow.
Requirements:
- Attend live or watch recording.
- Take before-and-after screenshots of a section of your cloud storage in which you have decluttered files, established logical folder structures, and implemented consistent naming conventions.
- Write a description of how you evaluated the permission levels and sharing within that section of your cloud storage and the results of your evaluation.
- Upload your screenshots and description to the microcredential SDDS 2024: Productivity in your Folio account.
Class 3: LinkedIn: Learning and Showcasing Your Skills | June 4
Description: Elevate your professional online presence with our class on crafting an attractive LinkedIn profile. This class will guide you through optimizing each section, from a compelling summary to showcasing LinkedIn Learning validated skills. Engage with a community of professionals and learn how to leverage LinkedIn for career advancement. By the end of this session, you’ll have the tools to create a profile that stands out in your industry. Another key focus will be utilizing LinkedIn Learning to gain skills which can then be showcased on your LinkedIn profile. We will also show LinkedIn Learning's new AI learning procurement tool.

Class 4: Computer Hygiene Basics | June 4
Description: This class will explore the basics of keeping your computer up to date and running smooth. Learn how to clean up cache files, clear trackers like cookies, update drivers and software, and ensure your security settings are good to go. This class focuses specifically on Windows-based computers.
Requirements:
- Attend live virtually or watch recording.
- Write a detailed plan for how you will maintain computer hygiene. Include how you will respond to potential malware infections, phishing attacks, device theft, or remote work challenges.

Class 5: Behind the Scenes: Secrets to Professional DIY Video Creation** | June 25
Description: This class will guide you through the essentials of creating high-quality DIY videos, focusing on the importance of good lighting to ensure clarity and visual appeal. We’ll delve into techniques for capturing high quality audio, which is just as crucial as the visuals for maintaining audience engagement. Practical filming techniques will be covered to help you produce smooth and professional-looking content. Lastly, we’ll explore how to develop engaging content that resonates with your audience, ensuring your videos are not only well-made but also compelling.
Requirements:
- Attend live or view recording.
- Create a 3 minute video explaining your video production either in your office or by scheduling time in the DIY studio.
- In your video, explain the lighting techniques you used. Explain the audio you are using and your editing techniques for the video.
- Upload your video to the micro-credential SDDS 2024: Productivity in your Folio account.

Class 6: Improve Collaboration Using Zoom Rooms | July 11
Description: Step into the future of virtual collaboration with our Zoom Rooms training class. Learn how to utilize the cutting-edge technology in our campus Zoom Rooms for seamless communication and teamwork. Enhance your Zoom meetings with tools that foster a more interactive and productive environment. Elevate your collaborative experiences by mastering the functionalities of Zoom Rooms.
Requirements:
- Attend live.
- Schedule a Zoom meeting in one of the Zoom Rooms across campus.
- Hold a short meeting and record the meeting. In the recording, showcase your use of whiteboard collaboration.
- Upload your meeting recording to the microcredential SDDS 2024: Productivity in your Folio account.
Class 7: Box Training From the Experts | July 16
Description: Our official Box representatives are hosting a Box training that will show you the ins and outs of utilizing Box for cloud storage at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ. Bring your questions, problems and concerns with Box to get live feedback from the experts.
Requirements:
- Attend live or view recording.
- Identify a use-case scenario for Box in your department.
- Write up an outline of how Box addresses that challenge or opportunity in your department. Include at least 3 Box features you will use, the expected benefits, and steps for implementation.
- Upload your outline to the microcredential SDDS 2024: Productivity in your Folio account.
Class 8: Campus Communications: It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s a Mass Email** | July 17
Description: Master the art of campus communications and ensure your messages are both heard and felt. Learn to craft announcements that are clear, engaging, and resonate with your colleagues. This class will enhance your ability to communicate key messages with impact, fostering a well-informed community.
Requirements:
- Attend live or view recording.
- Craft 3 communications from your department (such as an event or service) using 3 of the following modes: Announcements, Email, Physical, Digital Sign.
- Include a call to action, a learn more resource, and ensure all information is clear and present.
- Upload all 3 communications to the microcredential SDDS 2024: Productivity in your Folio account.
**This class also counts toward the SDDS 2024: Accessibility microcredential.
Class 9: Unleash the Power of Data: Elevate Your Insights with 91¶ÌÊÓƵ's Report Gallery | July 17
Description: Elevate your data skills with a deep dive into the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Report Gallery. This course will help participants explore specific dashboards to gain new insights and solutions around student recruitment, retention, and completion initiatives. We will review specific case studies around student success initiatives and utilize the Report Gallery to identify trends, patterns, and identify new insights. By incorporating tips and tricks from the Report Gallery, participants will expand their data literacy skills to foster a culture of data literacy and collaboration within 91¶ÌÊÓƵ. This course helps utilize our 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Data tools to leverage data effectively, empowering you to make informed decisions that drive student success.
Requirements:
- Attend live or view recording.
- Choose one scenario that we did not cover in class, and use the same steps as we outlined (using the "asking great questions" document), following the scenario details (that will also demonstrate what dashboard to use, along with a short training video for any dashboard that we did not cover in class).
- Write up a short paragraph on how you interpreted the data, how you would use the data to help solve the "problem in practice" within that scenario, and share any observations you’d like.
- Take a screenshot of the dashboard with the filters you selected.
- Upload your write up and screenshot to the microcredential SDDS 2024: Productivity in your Folio account.
Class 10: Principles of Good Survey Design - Qualtrics | July 18
Description: Discover the art of crafting effective surveys in our Principles of Survey Design class, intended to enhance your research and feedback initiatives. Unlock the potential of well-structured questions and learn the secrets to obtaining clear, actionable insights from your target audience. Elevate your survey strategies with techniques that resonate with respondents and drive engagement. Join us to refine your skills and bring precision to your data collection efforts, paving the way for informed decision-making.
Requirements:
- Attend live or view recording.
- Create a Qualtrics survey with an ExpertReview of “great” and with survey questions intentionally worded to get accurate responses.
- Keep the survey short and simple by only including essential questions.
- Upload a PDF of your survey to the microcredential SDDS 2024: Productivity in your Folio account. To do that click Tools in your Qualtrics survey in the editor > Click Import/Export > Click Print Survey > Save as PDF.
Class 11: Schedule Like a Pro: Fun Tips & Tricks for Google Calendar at Weber | July 30

Requirements:

- Create 2-3 events on your Google Calendar demonstrating the use of appointment slots, recurring meetings, and Zoom integration.
- Take a screenshot of each event.

Class 12: Advanced Microsoft Excel Hacks | July 31
Description: Do you love keyboard shortcuts and productive workflows. This class is for those who want to learn how to use Excel faster and more efficiently by utilizing the keyboard and lesser known workflows within Excel.
Requirements:
- Attend live virtually or view recording.
- Follow the instructions during the class to edit a spreadsheet.
- Upload your Excel file to the microcredential SDDS 2024: Productivity in your Folio account.
