Student Poster Contest

Participating in the the Student Poster Contest gives students the opportunity to present their work, build their resumes, and bring posters to professionals in the sustainability field. The ISS is a lively gathering of hundreds of sustainability professionals, industry practitioners, policy experts, educators, and students from across Utah and the Intermountain West.

Submissions will be accepted through Tuesday, February 20, 2025. See submission instructions below. 

Students whose posters are chosen to be displayed will receive  complimentary registration for up to 2 poster authors to the main day of events, Thursday, March 20, and will be entered to win prizes.

There are two steps to submit a poster:

  1. Complete the Poster Contest
  2. a copy of your poster

A digital copy of the poster and an abstract (250 words maximum) are required for submission.

Poster categories include:

  • Sustainability Research (Undergraduate and Graduate)
  • Green Design
  • Sustainability in Action
  • Sustainability Education
  • Sustainability in Creative Arts & Humanities

Poster Categories & Contest Rubric

Posters will be judged in 5 categories by an expert panel, according to the rubric. A prize will be awarded in each category. In addition, conference attendees will vote to determine the People's Choice Award.

 

Poster Specifications

  • Posters must relate to sustainability topics
  • Posters must be based on a project for a class or an internship and include the name of the project mentor or advisor
  • Posters may be no larger than 3 ft. 10 in. wide, 5 ft. tall
  • Posters must be prepared on a single sheet of paper
  • Posters will be mounted to display boards with push pins
