The 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Master of Social Work will prepare you for advanced clinical practice with many different people and systems in a wide variety of settings and contexts. Our graduates are charged with commitment to the development of human well-being, to social justice, and to the alleviation of poverty and oppression.

Our curriculum focuses on:

  • The needs of individuals, families, and communities in northern Utah.
  • Harm reduction.
  • Clinical practice skills relevant to Utah’s growing Latinx population.
  • The underlying value of service to individuals, families, groups, communities, organizations, and institutions.
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Social and economic justice.
  • Lifelong learning.

Social work’s history is closely linked to many of the world’s greatest human challenges – poverty, mental illness, drug use, crime, disabilities, aging, individual and family crises. The profession has been built on principles that include specific focus on social inequalities and injustice. As a result, social workers serve the needs of society’s most marginalized and at-risk individuals and groups.

Our graduates benefit by having a program that meets current and future service demands, is responsive to student and community needs and creates stackable credentials for an established career pipeline.
