Sophie Ducrocq Archibald is an associate professor in the Department of Social Work and Gerontology. She earned her Ph.D. in Mind-Body Medicine from Saybrook University. Her main interests include therapeutic relationships, therapists' lived experience, therapeutic presence, and the interconnected nature of our relationships. For her dissertation, she studied "therapists' lived experience of therapeutic relationships" with a heuristic qualitative method. She presents to her peers on these topics at local conferences, national conventions, and workshops. She obtained a Master's in Social Work from the University of Utah in 2013 and has over a decade of experience working as an existential-humanistic psychotherapist in community mental health, private practice, outpatient, and intensive outpatient settings. She has worked with children, youth, families, and adults dealing with anxiety-related disorders, OCD, and trauma-related disorders. Sophie supported clinical social workers with a wide range of expertise as a supervisor, consultant, and mentor. She is originally from France and lives in Utah with her husband and two children. She finds connection and grounding through ancient spiritual wisdom, nature, dancing, and traveling.
