Weber State’s Ray L. Kimber Music & Sound Recording Studio allows students to explore capturing and editing music, sound and dialog. The sound production & recording degree program offers the chance to gain practical knowledge, training and experience in a variety of production, recording and performance applications. Our graduates are prepared for careers in sound design, audio engineering, the live events industry and more, thanks to the hands-on approach of faculty and staff in 91¶ÌÊÓƵ's School of Performing Arts.
The Space
Featuring state of the art technology in a fully-equipped professional studio, students build their portfolios and their skill sets with the same tools used by the biggest names in the industry.
Award-winning designer created the $1 million space so that students can easily learn how to use the tools of the trade for careers as music producers, sound editors for film, live sound engineers and more. The studio was built in the Browning Center thanks to generous support from donors such as Ray Kimber of Kimber Kable.

Neve Genesys Black Console
The is an expandable analog audio console with DAW control. It sits at the heart of the recording studio, and provides connectivity and control for many of the performance spaces in the Browning Center.
Microphones
In addition to our extensive vintage and modern mic cabinet, a generous donation of 151 microphones from Ray Kimber (Kimber Kable) puts our students in reach of the most comprehensive mic collection in Utah higher education.
