Who is eligible?
Undergraduate students currently enrolled at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ.
What is the time commitment?
For the Research Project component: Typically one or two full semesters, but it may vary depending on the project.
For Publication: Writing a publication can be quite time intensive and involves several drafts between the student and faculty mentor. The process can take 1 month to over 1 year, depending on the project and journal that you submit to.
For Conference Dissemination: Disseminating your work typically involves a short presentation or performance. This is often done at a local or national conference, which may be held over 1-4 days. Although the presentation/performance is relatively short, it typically showcases many months to years of your research.
How do I participate in this HIEE?
How to Get Involved in Research (PDF) If you are interested in publishing your work, talk to your faculty mentor about this option. For Conference Dissemination: Information about the dissemination of your research/scholarly/creative work: the conference name, dates of conference, location of conference, your mentor’s name, your project title, whether you received an Undergraduate Research Travel Grant.
What should I include in my ePortfolio?
Reflect on your research experience, which skills you developed, and how this experience will propel you forward. You should also include evidence of your research dissemination product in your ePortfolio.
For Publication: If you have been published, definitely include your publication in your ePortfolio! This is a major accomplishment and summarizes the new information you have found (and shared) within your field.
For Conference Dissemination: Try to include something to showcase the dissemination of your work, such as a copy of your poster, PowerPoint presentation, research/scholarly paper, or creative works.
Can this HIEE be repeated?
Yes, you can complete more than one research project. You should discuss these options with your faculty mentor as the time commitment can be quite demanding and disseminating your work at conferences can be expensive. However, we encourage you to take advantage of a variety of HIEEs during your time at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ.
