MTNA Student Chapter

The Music Teacher National Association is a collaborative community of music-teaching professionals and their students. This group gives students access to resources, mentoring opportunities, leadership experience and more.

The 91¶ÌÊÓƵ piano program is a student chapter of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) comprised of a wide range of students. Our aim is to enrich and inspire with exceptional piano teaching and performance.

History

The 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Utah Music Teachers Association chapter was established by Dr. Diana Page in 1991-92. Around the same time, she also facilitated the creation of the Weber State Piano Festival, which continues to this day.

By fall 1995, the UMTA group had grown from one to 18 students. The group taught music classes at area schools in the Ogden School District and won the Music Teacher National Association’s (MTNA) National Student Chapter of the Year award for doing so, and received a grant which was used to create a scholarship.

The student group decided to rename the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ chapter the Treblemakers, an idea submitted by then student Jaynie Larsen. The Treblemakers have become a tight-knit group over the years, holding events and dinners together, particularly at Opening Socials.

The chapter continued to earn more accolades and was named the MTNA National Student Chapter of the Year for the second, third and fourth time in 2002-03, 2004-05 and 2007-08.

In 2022 the group decided to not use the Troublemaker name any more but continues to learn and perform together at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ.
