Responsible Office: President's Office |
1.0 PURPOSE
This policy allows for the creation of standing and ad hoc administrative committees.
2.0 Administrative Standing Committees
2.1 Administrative standing committees shall be provided in areas of campus operation where a continuing need for consultation and advice exists. These will be designated by the President in consultation with the vice presidents, the chair of faculty senate, and the chair of staff advisory council. The President’s Office should annually provide an up-to-date written statement to the Faculty Senate Executive Committee as to the existence, functions, and purposes to be served by each committee.
2.2 Temporary administrative ad hoc committees shall be appointed only when the subject cannot be handled adequately by a standing committee and shall be appointed with a definite statement of assignment and time limit for operation.
3.0 Faculty Involvement in Administrative Standing Committees
3.1 When needed, the Executive Committee shall appoint representatives to administrative standing committees. Annually, or as the need arises, the Executive Committee will review the current list of faculty representatives on administrative standing committees, and make recommendations for changes based on the faculty member’s performance in fulfilling the expectations described in section 3.2.
3.2 Faculty representatives included on administrative standing committees and temporary administrative ad hoc committees shall report on their actions to the Executive Committee annually. Additional reports may be submitted at the request of the Faculty Senate, the Executive Committee, or on the initiative of the committees.
