1.0 PURPOSE
This policy outlines the process for University facilities to be memorialized.

3.0 DEFINITION
3.1 Facility - includes campus buildings, rooms, areas, features, facilities, or other physical improvement or natural features of the University.
4.0 POLICY
4.1 Facilities may be memorialized or named in honor of a person or persons having made a significant contribution to the growth and stature of the University through exceptional service, professional attainment, community contribution, or by way of appropriate financial assistance.
4.2 The Office of University Advancement should be consulted prior to any presentation or proposal pertaining to a memorialization commitment and coordinate with the chief administrators of the University.
4.3 No facility will be titled or memorialized in the name of a University employee (administrator, faculty, staff or student) for a minimum of five (5) years following the employee's death or separation from the University.
4.4 An honorary name recognition will ordinarily remain on a facility for its useful life. If a University facility is replaced (e.g. major reconstruction), significantly altered, or ceases to exist, the name may or may not continue, as determined by the President, in consultation with the Vice President for University Advancement and the honoree, as appropriate.
