• President

  Mia Foster

  Sophomore | Major: Marketing, Political Science, Leadership

  I’m running for Student Body President on the pillars of transparency, community, and responsibility. With my qualifications and goals, I’m confident I'm the best choice to Foster Action Through Leadership!

  Goals:

  • Transparency- The 91¶ÌÊÓƵ student body should be aware of all activity happening on campus. I plan on developing a monthly newsletter that will be posted on the 91¶ÌÊÓƵSA Instagram, website, and submitted to the Signpost to potentially post. 
  • Community- There are tons of amazing clubs, organizations, and departments on campus. I plan on hosting monthly meetings with these student leaders on how we can work together in projects, advocacy, and events. From there, I will develop a 91¶ÌÊÓƵSA Executive Council Emergency Fund. This fund is where clubs, orgs, and leadership on campus can submit a funding request for any emergency funding that is needed!
  • Responsibility- Leadership is a privilege and one that can't be taken for granted. I plan on being a responsible leader, one that is ethical in decision-making, and one that puts the students' interests first. The future Executive Team and President must work together through collaboration. I will make sure I am responsible with facilitating this and making the 91¶ÌÊÓƵSA is supported.
  • Fostering Action Through Leadership: I plan to be the leader who takes action, one that includes the Executive Team and 91¶ÌÊÓƵ students. 91¶ÌÊÓƵSA must work as a team to succeed in all of our goals. As your next Student Body President, I will ensure that action is taken and the credit is given where credit is deserved.  

  Qualifications: 

  • Currently serve as the Executive Vice President for years 24-25. I facilitate 91¶ÌÊÓƵSA Student Senate meetings, run student events such as Home Away From Home, and assist in the voting process for funding requests.   
  • I'm employed as a 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Ambassador where I work with the events committee that plans admission events such as Purple Carpets, give campus tours, and do admissions office task. 
  • I serve on several 91¶ÌÊÓƵ committees such as Faculty Senate and Student Fee Recommendation Committee. In Faculty Senate, I play the role of being one of the student votes and advocate. For Student Fee Recommendation Committee I'm one of the voices on how our student fees should be distributed among the different departments on campus.  
  • Served as the Student Life and Interest Chair for the Clubs and Orgs team for years 23-24. I sent a bi-weekly email out to clubs and orgs, helped plan events such as Casino Night, and was apart of the process when it comes to giving out club funding.

  

• Executive VP

  Annyssa Reyes

  Junior | Major: Accounting, Minor: Finance

  Dedicated to advocating for students, amplifying voices, and creating meaningful change. I strive to create impactful initiatives and ensure every Weber State student is heard, supported, and empowered to succeed.

  Goals:

  Enhance Student Advocacy & Support – By actively listen to student concerns and ensure their voices are represented at all levels of decision-making. Through open forums, one-on-one discussions, and partnerships with student leaders, I will work to improve resources, policies, and initiatives that directly impact the student body.  Strengthen Collaboration – With the help of the Senate, I will foster stronger relationships between student government, campus organizations, and academic departments to create a more connected campus. By encouraging open dialogue and ensuring all students feel heard, we can create an environment where perspectives lead to meaningful change.

  • Qualifications: 

    • My experience as a peer mentor has allowed me to connect with students, understand their challenges, and provide guidance to help them succeed. Through this role, I’ve developed strong communication and leadership skills, ensuring that students feel supported and heard. This experience has reinforced my passion for advocacy and my commitment to creating a welcoming and safe environment for all.   
    • Currently, I serve as the Senator for the Goddard School of Business and Economics. This position has given me firsthand experience in student government, how our senate at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ, and leadership. I have learned how to effectively listen to different perspectives, find solutions, and represent students' interests at the university level. 
    • I like to pride myself on being a good listener and an open-minded leader. I believe that every student’s voice matters, and I am dedicated to ensuring that their needs are met. As Executive Vice President, I will use my experience, and skills to make a real difference at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ.  
    • I am someone who takes initiative and also thrives in teamwork. Whether leading a project, supporting my peers, or working with other 91¶ÌÊÓƵSA leaders, I am proactive in finding solutions and ensuring goals are met. As Executive Vice President, I will bring this same dedication, collaboration, and passion to serve all 91¶ÌÊÓƵ students.
  • Increasing Awareness of Campus Resources for Student Success - I will work to ensure that every student knows about the resources available to support their academic, personal, and professional growth. This includes expanding outreach efforts, so students can learn about services like tutoring, mental health support, career exploration and financial aid. By making these resources more accessible and visible, students will feel more empowered to seek the help they need to thrive at Weber State.
  • Enhance the sense of belonging on campus - By creating more opportunities for students to build meaningful connections. With the help of the senate, I plan to create events and student-led initiatives that bring students together across our campuses. I will ensure that every student has a place to connect, grow, and feel valued in our campus community.

  Let’s create fun, inclusive activities where every student can connect, build friendships, and foster a family-like community at Weber State, ensuring everyone feels welcomed, heard, and appreciated at our activities.

  Goals

  • Increase student involvement in activities at Weber State by advocating for events that reflect their interests. Create diverse activities that appeal to and engage all students across campus.
  • Establish an inclusive environment at activities, fostering long-lasting friendships and creating a family-like atmosphere across Weber State.
  • Provide more off-campus activities to give students a break from campus while fostering friendships among peers. Off-campus events will also be convenient for commuter students and help diversify the activities at Weber State.
  • Consistently promote and advertise activities to reach as many students as possible, ensuring everyone knows about the opportunities available to them.

  Qualifications

  • Served as the Traditional Events Chair on the Weber State Activities Team during the 2023 91¶ÌÊÓƵ-2024 academic year.
  • Organized major events for Weber State as part of the Activities Team, including Foam Bash, Homecoming Hoedown, and Silent Disco.
  • Worked as a private piano teacher and assisted in training and management at my current job.
  • I am a strong listener and would be a dedicated advocate for the Weber State student body.

  Krystal Orantes

  Sophomore | Major: Criminal Justice, CSI

  Building a united campus by fostering community partnerships, enhancing student resource access, promoting belonging, and prioritizing mental health and wellness for a more supportive and connected student experience.

  Goals

  • I hope to work with my team to bridge gaps in working to improve student's mental health and wellness on campus
  • I want to strengthen students sense of belonging and community on campus
  • Working with academic affairs in aiding students to be more connected with student resources on campus
  • Strengthen the advocacy and unity collaborative relationship in the Ogden and Weber communities, such as Safe Habor and Ogden Pride

  • Facilitated open conversation between VP of student success, senate and student body on changes regarding HB261
  • Chair of Student Engagement committe, planned conversation on HB261 and helped with name changes for Senators of Engagement and Belonging 
  • Initiated a fundraiser to collect clothing items for homeless shelters in my area, collected 6 boxes worth of clothing

  Goals:

  • Provide interactive training events for clubs and organizations on campus. 
  • Engage in clubs and orgs activities by planning fun events and attending others events where I can.

  • Help students become aware of the materials and school resources that are offered by increasing student involvement.

  • I am a responsible individual and always get tasks done. If I start a project, it gets finished. I am determined to make things happen.   
  • I utilize other people for their strengths. At my job now, I assign people tasks that I know they can accomplish because I’m aware of their skills and know what they can do and accomplish. 
  • Leadership/volunteer experience: I am a student senator and planned a service project to tie blankets for a hospital donation. I also served an LDS mission and know how important service/aid is.  
  • I have strong communication skills. I am comfortable speaking in front of groups and presenting ideas. I can effectively communicate with students club leaders, and school staff. I have experience with social media and event promotion.

  Building a campus where students understand and support each other, fostering a sense of community through clubs, and uniting students and leadership to create a more informed Weber State.

  Goals:

  •  My main goal as CSBS senator is to start strong by gaining a deep understanding of Weber State’s dynamics. To do this, I plan to actively engage with various organizations, clubs, and committees to learn about their initiatives and challenges. From there, I’ll work to support them in meaningful ways as their senate representative.
  • My second goal is to raise awareness about running for student government. After speaking with several individuals on campus, I’ve noticed a disconnect between students and their understanding of the election process. Even my mom, who earned her associate’s, bachelor’s, and now her master’s degree at Weber, was never aware of student government campaigning. I want to bridge this gap and ensure more students know how they can get involved.
  • I want to emphasize the importance of clubs on campus. Loneliness seems to be something many students experience, and while strengthening clubs isn’t a complete solution, it’s a great step toward helping everyone find a sense of community at Weber State.
  • Lastly, I want to improve on-campus advertising about what student government is doing. My goal is to create a stronger sense of unity between students and leadership, ensuring that any campus conflicts are addressed respectfully and efficiently.

  • I’m not afraid to ask "why." I may not have all the answers right now, but I’m a learner, and I’m committed to finding solutions to the challenges we face. I believe that asking questions and seeking knowledge are key to making informed decisions and creating positive change for our school community.
  • Communication is a vital skill, especially when working on behalf of students. I love engaging with individuals in many situations and striving to understand the way that Weber State thinks.
  • I am consistent, especially when it comes to working hard and staying dedicated to my responsibilities.

Frequently Asked Questions About Elections

Can anyone run for a student government position?
Yes. However, there are some eligibility requirements that you can read in the election packet. You must enroll and complete a minimum of 12 credited hours at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ per semester and pay full-time student fees during your term of office. You must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 or higher during your term. Must be in good academic, financial, and judicial standing with the University. You must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.

How long do students hold office?
Students hold their positions for the fall and spring semesters. All positions will require summer planning and training hours. Each position has specific job requirements that must be fulfilled. There may also be other functions related to your position in addition to the noted requirements. These are to be determined by the position, and more information is provided in the elections packet.

Are there any rules for the signage my campaign can put up?
There usually are rules and regulations to what your campaign can contain, however, these differ from year to year, depending on the elections committee and previous years. Before elections begin, the office of Student Involvement and Leadership, as well as the elections committee, will create a packet of information containing such rules and regulations as well as other campaign information. They will also hold a meeting to discuss a candidate's concerns.

How do I vote?
On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, an email will be sent to students to connect to their ballot via Qualtrics.

Why should I vote?
Voting is important for every student. Your student fees help to pay for several seminars, sponsor clubs, and organizations as well as many other things. By voting and learning about the candidates you can learn and gain a greater understanding of what the candidates believe is best for you. If you have further questions about why you should vote, please pose the question through email, social media or by stopping by!
