Dean's Welcome
Message from Dean Harrold
Greetings! I am proud to present the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences’ first e-newsletter. As you explore stories featuring alumni and friends like yourself, I encourage you to keep in touch — send us your accomplishments and check out our upcoming events.
Alumni, students, faculty and staff contribute to the mission of the college every day. Teaching, discovering and engaging with the community are our lifelong priorities.
You and your fellow Wildcats faithfully represent the college on regional, national and international levels. We value your efforts and accomplishments. You show students the heights they can achieve with their education.
For instance, Brad Bushman graduated from 91¶ÌÊÓƵ in 1984. He is now a well-known scholar and professor of psychology and communication at The Ohio State University. His area of expertise is violence in the media and its effect on human behavior.
This spring, he participated in the Social & Behavioral Sciences’ Distinguished Lecture Series. He spoke on the correlation between violent video games and aggressive behavior, especially in regard to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Find out more about his work and story in this newsletter.
On another note, we will be celebrating the Social Science Building’s 40th birthday in November. We invite you to celebrate this exciting milestone with us. Join in the fun — I look forward to seeing you.
