Department Chair Welcome
Dear Students,
Welcome to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
Weber State's ACS Certified Chemistry BS and Biochemistry BS programs equip you with a conceptual and experimental foundation to support your goals. Such a foundation is achieved through deep understanding of the chemical basis of matter, combined with current, hands-on, practical laboratory skills. These will prepare you for your future in chemistry, biochemistry or one of many related fields in science and medicine. Along the way to completing your bachelor's degree in chemistry or biochemistry, you will fulfill the requirements for the Chemical Technician AAS degree, which opens the door to job and internship opportunities that can provide financial support and help you build your resume while your are finishing your bachelor's degree.
Upon graduation, your bachelor's degree will be certified by the American Chemical Society ACS and you will become a member of the would's largest scientific society and one of the world's leading sources of authoritative scientific information.
You will find a staff of Ph.D. chemists from all of the various disciplines in chemistry, that were selected on their teaching and communication ability. They are interested in providing you with a quality education that will give you the knowledge to be successful in any field, whether it is a chemistry major or just classes needed to become an engineer, doctor, dentist, etc.
Weber State is an exciting place to study chemistry. Our classes are relatively small and are taught by experienced instructors whose doors are always open to aid students.
Students have "hands-on" use of modern instruments and will find many opportunities for working on research projects.
