Minors and BIS

Supplement your education with a minor in Communication, or craft your own degree path with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) degree.

To declare your degree, go to your eWeber portal, open the Change My Major app and select your major from the dropdown menus.

To declare a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) degree, contact the BIS program at bis@weber.edu or visit the BIS website.

Communication Minor

A minor in communication develops skills many employers value most in potential employees.

You’ll increase your abilities and experience in writing, speaking, interpersonal communication, audio and video production, visual communication and critical listening and listening.

Communication Teaching Minor

The communication teaching minor allows students to choose from two tracks, with each option providing students with the skills to effectively teach in the area of communication.

Tracks include communication studies (speech), which is designed for students interested in teaching or coaching communication courses in high schools; and the multimedia journalism track, designed for students interested in teaching or advising school organizations or yearbook staff.

Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS)

The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) allows students to select three areas of emphasis and develop a contract of courses with the departments of your choice.

You may choose Communication as a track for a BIS degree. Doing this requires that you complete 24 Communication credit hours.
