Civic Engagement
In some of my courses, I have the students do civic engagement projects. They first identify a conservation issue (e.g., management of reintroduced wolves in the western United States) and describe it in considerable detail. After learning about the various factors involved, they determine how they can try to influence the conservation and management of the species or area. This typically entails expressing their considered opinion to an elected official. There are presentations on these reports; below is a course assignment and some representative presentations.
