Teaching Philosophy & Focus
My areas of expertise in the geosciences are surface processes and landforms (“dirt bag” geology), including geomorphology, Quaternary geology, meteorology, and oceanography.
I also co-teach the majors’ class in geoscience field methods and an introductory Earth Science course for Elementary Education majors.

Landscape change in eolian environments of the Colorado Plateau, especially the Holocene history of dune formation at Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Kane County, Utah
Hydrology, geomorphology and Holocene history of montane wetlands of the Uinta Mountains, northeastern Utah.
I have two ongoing research projects. I am working with colleagues at Boise State University to understand the nature and timing of dune formation at Coral Pink Sand Dunes in southern Utah.
I am also working with colleagues from Weber State, the Natural History Museum of Utah, and the Forest Service on the modern hydrology and Holocene history of high-elevation wetlands in the Uinta Mountains of northeastern Utah.
