Google has, for over a decade, provided unlimited storage and services to educational institutions.  Thanks to this generosity, 91¶ÌÊÓƵ has been able to provide students and alumni acccess to a mailbox; including unlimited use of Google Drive, and an @mail.weber.edu e-mail address.

Google has announced they will no longer provide unlimited storage services to educational institutions.

 Your student email account will be decommissioned two and a half years after your last class ended. In addition, a 5GB storage limit will be implemented limiting how much you can store in your Google storage.

The storage limit was set to 5GB on May 25th, 2023 91¶ÌÊÓƵ. 

Lifecycle management was turned on in August of 2023 91¶ÌÊÓƵ.  Student mailboxes are decomissioned 2 years after you took your last class. 

If your account goes over the 5GB storage limit, you won't be able to add or edit files in Google Drive and you may lose stored data in the future. If you need to reduce your storage used, please see this guide: www.weber.edu/help/kb/CleanUpGDrive.html

If you do not plan on taking any more classes, you must download/transfer any data that you wish to keep before your 91¶ÌÊÓƵ account is decommissioned. 91¶ÌÊÓƵ has enabled google takeout to make this process easier. Your storage is shared across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos. When your account reaches its storage limit, you will no longer be able to add data to Google Drive. To see how much space you are using, on a computer, log into your account and go to .

After your account has been decommissioned, you will not be able to access your student emails or any data stored in your student Google Drive account. Twelve months after your account has been decommissioned your data will be permanently deleted and will not be recoverable.

If your account was recently decommissioned and you need temporary access to retrieve important data, you can contact the IT Service Desk at 801-626-7777 or csupport@weber.edu to gain temporary access to your account.

If your account was recently decommissioned and you need temporary access to retrieve important data, you can contact the IT Service Desk at 801-626-7777 or csupport@weber.edu to gain temporary access to your account. 

If you register for classes after your data has been deleted, a brand-new email account will be created for you. It will have the same name and email address as before, but it won't have any of your previous emails or data.

All current and former students will be affected. 

Employee mailboxes (@weber.edu addresses) will not be affected. Employees who also have a student mailbox will have their student mailbox retired if it's been more than 2.5 years since they last took a class. 

An automated process runs nightly to check to see if you are eligible to maintain your student mailbox. 

To check your current storage use, log into your wildcat mail account and go to .

If you are a current student, review your storage usage and reduce if necessary.  Items you want to keep permanently should be moved out of your student account.

If you need more space for a student project you can create a 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Box account by going to and logging in with your eWeber credentials. 
Please note: Access to Box is removed once you are no longer a current student. 

If you are a former student please begin migrating your data out of the account and update your contacts, services, and lists to use a personal email address.
