Moving beyond the efforts of Martin Luther King, Jr., Hamlin complicates leadership during the civil rights movement by juxtaposing Aaron Henry with Vera Pigee. Hamlin exposes the many methods of achieving freedom and justice following World War II by detailing the styles of these two leading voices from Clarksdale, Mississippi.
