Snowbasin

With 3,000 skiable acres and 3,000 vertical feet, Snowbasin is a great choice for your winter fun on the slopes. The resort, which was the home of the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Games, is just a short 30 minute drive (19 mi) from Weber State!

Snowbasin is comprised of three distinct zones: Strawberry, Needles, and John Paul, each with its own personality. Together they form a world-class destination with Swiss-Alps-style views that’s one of the oldest continually operated ski resorts in North America. With 114 trails, 13 lifts and over 3,000 acres of varied terrain for every type of skier or snowboarder to explore, you’ll have your choice of wide-open bowls, steep tree-lined trails, and family-friendly runs.

Getting There: The route from the Wasatch Front communities is either Utah Highway 39 (12th Street) through Ogden canyon or by Highway I-84 Weber Canyon to the Mountain Green exit then Utah Highway 167 Trappers Loop.

Nordic Valley

Nordic Valley is a 450-acre boutique ski and snowboard resort deep in the Wasatch, located about 17 miles east of Weber State. It boasts 40 runs (8 Green, 12 Blue, 15 Black, 5 Double Black), 5 lifts (1 high-speed 6-pack, 2 two person, 1 three person, 1 surface lift) as well as some of the best night skiing in Utah under the stars. 

With night skiing (3- 8 p.m.) tickets starting at just $9, Nordic Valley is a great, budget-friendly option for students wanting to hit the slopes after class! 

Getting There:  The route from the Wasatch Front communities is either Utah Highway 39 (12th Street) through Ogden Canyon or through North Ogden by the North Ogden Divide.

Powder Mountain

Powder Mountain is the largest of the three Ogden ski resorts with 8,400 acres of skiable terrain. It offers pristine powder and 144 runs that feature something for everyone with 25 percent beginner runs, 40 percent intermediate-level, and 35 percent reserve. In addition to the groomed slopes, Powder Mountain also offers sidecountry and backcountry acres to explore as well.

Powder Mountain is located about 21 miles east of Ogden, roughly a 40 minute drive from campus.

Getting There: The quickest route from the Wasatch Front communities is Utah Highway 39 (12th Street) through Ogden canyon and then left on UT-158 N towards Eden.

 

Cross Country Skiing & Snowshoeing

Ogden Nordic

Ogden Nordic is one of our favorite locations for cross country skiing, snowshoeing and even fat biking. They groom 15-20 miles of trails for Nordic skiing and about 10 miles for snowshoeing and fat biking, all at Weber County’s North Fork Park, about 20 miles east of campus. They are open 7 days a week and have both season/day trail passes available.
