Commissioning

Upon completion of Army ROTC and graduation from Weber State, you can become a commissioned officer in the active Army, Army Reserve or National Guard.

Freshman Year

Four-Year Program Starting Point: Cadets in our four-year program start their journey here. Review the four-year program requirements on our enrollment page.

  • MILS 1010: Leadership and Personal Development (3 credit hours)
  • MILS 1020: Introduction to Tactical Leadership (3 credit hours)*
  • MILS 2400: Physical Training (1 credit hour)*
  • MILS 3000: American Military Hisory (3 credit hours)*

Sophomore Year

  • MILS 1020: Introduction to Tactical Leadership (3 credit hours)*
  • MILS 2010: Innovative Team Leadership (3 credit hours)
  • MILS 2020: Foundations of Tactical Leadership (3 credit hours)
  • MILS 2400: Physical Training (1 credit hour)*
  • MILS 3000: American Military History (3 credit hours)*

Junior Year

  • MILS 3010: Adaptive Team Leadership (4 credit hours)
  • MILS 3020: Leadership in Changing Environments (4 credit hours)

  • HIST 3280 or HIST 3290, Military History Course, (3 credit hours)*

Senior Year

  • MILS 4010: Developing Adaptive Leaders (4 credit hours)
  • MILS 4020: Leadership in a Complex World (4 credit hours)
  • MILS 4400: Physical Training (2 credit hours)*
  • MILS 3000: American Military History (3 credit hours)*
  • HIST 3280 or HIST 3290, Military History Course, (3 credit hours)*
  • Select an Army Branch School

Graduation and Commissioning

  • Commission as a second lieutenant
  • Complete Army Branch School (typically a 3-month course)
  • Complete 3–4 years Army active duty or 6–8 years National Guard or Army Reserves
