The program will consist of daily visits to historical sites of the Venetian Renaissance throughout the city and beyond, including a day-trip to Padova, where students will see the work of Giotto and his frescoes in the Arena Chapel. Extensive time will be spent at the Venice Biennale, one of the premiere exhibitions of contemporary art from around the world. As host city for the Biennale, Venice is a unique resource for students of art, providing simultaneous access to extensive historical and contemporary examples of the highest importance. The opportunity to study art and art-history in an immersive program will culminate with creating a reflective journal of the experience that will include analytic writing on the themes, forms, and artists exhibiting in the Biennale. Two weeks in residence in this dynamic city of historic and contemporary import will provide a uniquely powerful educational experience.
