Utah and Las Vegas

Program Details

Utah and Las Vegas represent the dichotomy and breadth found in America. Ogden activities will include outdoor rec, small-town life, rural community and farming excursion, and ideal "Americana" college town life. Vegas, by contrast, will demonstrate the commerce and hustle of a large city. By comparing UNLA, Utah State, Weber State, BYU, and the University of Utah, students can learn the difference in structure and mission of universities in the US.

Selection Criteria:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be a high school graduate or above. Preference will be given to international students
  • Students must be able to transverse up to 10 miles a day. The program includes hiking, swimming, and outdoor activities

Cost

Cost: $1,750.00 (Airfare NOT Included)

Deposit: $500 will need to be paid when you hand in your application.

April 2, 2018: $700
April 16, 2018: $100
Must be paid in full by May 24, 2018

Pay deposit and all payments to the Hurst Center for Lifelong Learning in person or pay over the phone with a credit card at (801) 626-6600. Please, do not pay on campus, all payments need to be made at the Hurst Center.

Includes: room and board, domestic transportation, and some meals.

Not Included: airfare, passport, incidentals, excess baggage costs, any unscheduled travel, and all meals.

Academic Courses

Students who participate in this study abroad program will be able to register for up to three (3) semester credits through 91¶ÌÊÓƵ in UNIV 1106

Program Directors

Rebecca Schwartz has been the Study Abroad Director for almost 4 years and has worked in international education for over a decade. She has been an assistant leader on multiple programs in the past, including one very similar to this program in 2017. She is also a PhD student in Educational Leadership and Policy, with an expertise in university systems and structures.

Trip Cancellations

If the trip is canceled, all participants will be refunded. Any refunds for withdrawals from the program will be determined by the Study Abroad Director according to the recoverability of incurred costs and fees and according to the Continuing Education Policy. Once the group leaves all costs are non-refundable in their entirety. Dates & process may change. It is the student's responsibility to be aware of any such changes by staying in contact with the program director.
