Program Details

Students will be exploring the ancient Roman ruins in the countries of Italy and Croatia. They will be visiting works of Palladio and experiencing several museums for exposure to the art of early periods. They will be exploring Renaissance and Revival architecture inspired by earlier works. Students will also be able to participate in tours with emphasis on medieval dwellings, burial sites, and 3 renowned museums. In addition, students will be given museum passes on some of their free days. They will see restorative work done to mimic early architecture which was destroyed during the world wars.

Selection Criteria:

  • Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Participants must be a high school graduate or above.
  • Participants must read, speak, and understand English.
  • Participants will be expected to move themselves and their luggage significant distances through urban settings and transportation hubs in a timely fashion that will not delay the group.

Deposit: $500 dollars will need to be paid when you hand in your application.

All payments must be made through the Hurst Center, NOT at the main cashier's office. Please bring payment in person to the Hurst Center, located on the south side of campus next to the Alumni Center, or over the phone at (801) 626-8740.

Will include: room and board, domestic transportation, and some meals.

Not included: airfare, incidentals, excess baggage costs, any unscheduled travel, and all meals.

Program Directors

Jacie Johnson - Director: She has had the great opportunity to travel and can share her practical experience with students.

Kristen Arnold - Co-Director: She is the program coordinator, and will teach debriefing workshops. She will co-grade the portfolios, and responsible for a group while on tour.

Shauna Morris - She will assist with the logistics on the ground. She has an extensive knowledge of art.

Rob Call - He will teach the pre-departure workshop. He will act as a great in-the-field advisor as the students sketch, and will also teach the sketching workshop while abroad.

Trip Cancellations

If the trip is canceled, all participants will be refunded. Any refunds for withdrawals from the program will be determined by the Study Abroad Director according to the recoverability of incurred costs and fees and according to the Continuing Education Policy. Once the group leaves all costs are non-refundable in their entirety. Dates & process may change. It is the student's responsibility to be aware of any such changes by staying in contact with the program director.
