Korea and Japan

Program Details

The most effective means of learning about international business and culture is to visit a country, observe business first-hand, and interact with business leaders in that country. Participants will explore Japan and Korea's business and cultural sites to gain a more complete understanding of the unique context for conducting business in foreign countries, meet with business owners, and become aware of the issues and impacts of the political tension in Korea.

Selection Criteria:

Participants Must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Be a high school graduate or above.
  • Read, speak, and understand English.
  • Be able to move reasonably quickly over city terrain. For students whom this presents a problem, taxis may be arranged as recommended by 91¶ÌÊÓƵ's disability office. No immunizations beyond those expected of any 91¶ÌÊÓƵ student should be required.

  • Osaka/Kyoto, Japan

Must be paid in full by Feb. 24, 2018

Deposit: $500 dollars will need to be paid when you hand in your application.

All payments must be made through the Hurst Center, NOT at the main cashier's office. Payment can be made in person, or over the phone at (801) 626-6600. The Hurst Center is located on the south side of campus next to the Alumni Center.

Itinerary

Please attend the pre-departure meetings!

Fri March 1st: Leave SLC for overnight flight to Korea
Sat March 2nd: Arrive in Seoul, Korea, and check into the hotel
Sun March 3rd: City Tour: Palace, Museum, Blue House, Downtown Seoul. Group lunch. Free evening to explore Seoul.
Mon March 4th: Company and university visit.
Tues March 5th: DMZ visit: 9 am to 5 pm
Wed March 6th: Free morning. Flight to Japan in afternoon. Arrive in Osaka, Japan, and check into the hotel.
Thur March 7th: Osaka and Kobe – City tour in the morning. University visit in the afternoon.
Fri March 8th: Osaka and Kyoto – Company visits. University visit in the afternoon.
Sat March 9th: Kyoto – City tour: temple, palace, museum
Sun March 10th: Flight to SLC (morning)

Academic Courses

Students who participate in this study abroad program will be able to register for up to three (3) semester credits through 91¶ÌÊÓƵ in BSAD 4850.

Trip Cancellations

If the trip is canceled, all participants will be refunded. Any refunds for withdrawals from the program will be determined by the Study Abroad Director according to the recoverability of incurred costs and fees and according to the Continuing Education Policy. Once the group leaves all costs are non-refundable in their entirety. Dates & process may change. It is the student's responsibility to be aware of any such changes by staying in contact with the program director.
