Program Details

The Dubai government recognizes the economic importance of logistics, not only locally but to the Middle East and North Africa region and beyond. Recent industry reports have highlighted the fact that the UAE is a major global logistics hub, with an estimated one-third of the world's logistics activity passing through the region. This study abroad will allow students to examine current practices, trends, and issues with onsite visits to major industries in Dubai.

Selection Criteria:

Pre-Req required:
  • BSAD 2899: Business Foundations Assessment
  • Business students who are physically able to handle and adapt to the challenges of visiting a third world country. Students must be willing to provide assistance with the humanitarian project before and during the trip visit.

March 1, 2019 – March 10, 2019

Cost

Cost: $3,999

Deposit: $500

Pay deposit and all payments to the Hurst Center for Lifelong Learning in person or pay over the phone with a credit card at (801) 626-6600. Please, do not pay on campus, all payments need to be made at the Hurst Center.

Itinerary

Pre-departure orientation will take place within the two-week time period before departure.

March 1st: Leave SLC for Dubai, UAE

March 10th: Return to SLC

Academic Courses

In addition to the pre-req BSAD 2899, students may enroll in (3) of the following credit hours:

  • SCM 4850 (3)
  • or BSAD 4850 (3)

Program Directors

Dr. Amydee and Stan Fawcett, program director & co-director: Have traveled extensively throughout the world, specifically to many countries in Asia and Europe. Both have led or co-led multiple study abroad courses.

Rebecca Cruz, will help plan and execute travel details.

Trip Cancellations

If the program is canceled, all participants will be refunded. Any refunds for withdrawals from the program will be determined by the Study Abroad Director according to the recoverability of incurred costs and fees and according to the Continuing Education Policy. Once the group leaves all costs are non-refundable in their entirety. Dates & process may change. It is the student's responsibility to be aware of any such changes by staying in contact with the program director.
