Through various museum visits, city walking tours, and cuisine sampling opportunities, students will be able to gain an increased understanding of French culture. Students will be exposed to different aspects of the culture such as art, history and architecture at the Musee D'Orsay, La maison de Victor Hugo, The musee de Gustave Moreau, Le Petit Palais and the Opera de Paris. During the city walks, students will gain an increased understanding of architecture and urban planning in Paris and how that differs (or is similar to) urban planning in the United States. Through these visits, students will also be able to physically visit sites and places discussed in the literature that they read for the course. Restaurant visits will also allow students to sample French cuisine and understand its importance in French culture.
