The Provost’s office manages academic planning and ensures our students' quality of academic programs, faculty development and excellence, and timely degree completion. Our team works closely with academic college deans, department chairs, and faculty and staff to enhance the success of our students. Together, we support 91¶ÌÊÓƵ’s mission by fostering excellence in teaching and instruction, research and scholarship, student learning, and community engagement. Other functions include digital learning and education, community, high school, and regional partnerships, sponsored research, and international programs.

Dr. Ravi Krovi
Ravi Krovi is Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ. He also holds an academic appointment as a Professor in Supply Chain and Management Information Systems in the Goddard School of Business and Economics. The Provost serves as the university’s chief academic officer and provides oversight and strategic direction to the seven degree granting colleges, the Stewart Library, and all academic and student support functions.
Krovi is a champion of student and faculty success and a big believer in meeting students where they are. He guides the university in implementing its strategic plan focusing on student access, affordability, retention and completion. Prior to joining the Wildcat community, he was the Dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Akron for ten years where he led a transformational student success campaign. During this time, the college was recognized as a nationally ranked business school with increases in the placement rate, four year graduation rate, and the number of honors students and Fulbright Scholars. His prior administrative stints included service as an academic department chair and technology center director.
Krovi has published in several academic journals and has been an invited speaker at several conferences. He has consulted with businesses on projects in digital transformation, business analytics, strategic planning, and technology innovation. He is currently a Trustee of the Ogden Regional Medical Center and serves as an advisory board member at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. He has also served as a business accreditation review team leader for the American Association of Colleges and Schools of Business, and in the I-CORPS Technology Commercialization Program Advisory Team for the National Science Foundation.
Krovi holds a doctoral degree in Management Information Systems and Decision Sciences, a master's degree in Mathematical Sciences with tracks in Computer Science and Statistics from the University of Memphis, and a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Baroda, India. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys reading, golf and pickleball. He lives in Ogden, Utah, with his wife who is a professor of special education. They are the proud parents of two adult daughters, Avanti and Ayesha.

Lisa Allen’s commitment to 91¶ÌÊÓƵ spans over 35 years, marking a distinguished career dedicated to the institution. In her role as Director of Academic Finance and Administration, Lisa provides expertise in resource allocation, budget management, and strategic data analysis. She is a trusted advisor to the Provost, university administration, colleges, and departments, supporting their financial needs and meeting budgetary requirements.
Throughout her career, Lisa has approached tasks and challenges with a unique blend of analytical rigor and creative problem-solving to help solve critical issues and drive institutional initiatives forward.
Lisa’s ties to Weber State run deep through her professional contributions and as an alumna who proudly received her education from the institution. This deep-rooted connection underscores her enduring commitment to the university’s mission and values.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family and cherishes her role as “Gram” to her granddaughter. She also enjoys pursuing her passion for running and engaging in spirited games of racquetball and pickleball.

Dr. Ivana Fredotovic brings a rich experience in higher education, institutional research, and analytics to her role as the inaugural Chief Data Officer at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ (91¶ÌÊÓƵ), where she joined in April 2023 91¶ÌÊÓƵ. Committed to enhancing student success through a comprehensive approach to data and analytics, Ivana leverages her prior experiences as Director of Research and Data Analytics at Miami Dade College and in various institutional research roles at Barry University, FL. Holding a Doctorate in Leadership and Education from Barry University, Ivana actively engages in national and regional professional organizations, advisory boards, and community-based research projects, focusing on data literacy, organizational transparency, and data governance.
Throughout her career, Ivana has championed collaborative efforts and strategic priorities to foster a data-informed culture, supporting impactful strategies and proactively strengthening student success. Her leadership philosophy aligns closely with 91¶ÌÊÓƵ's mission and values, driving her commitment to advancing data architecture, literacy, and governance across the campus to promote student success. As CDO, Ivana is pivotal in leading data administration efforts and cultivating a data ecosystem and culture that facilitates data-informed decision-making university-wide, ensuring 91¶ÌÊÓƵ's continued commitment to excellence in education and student support.

An expert in strategic innovation, James Hedges is a learning leader who oversees the institution's entrepreneurial and innovative arm, the Division of Online & Continuing Education. Driven by a longstanding passion for developing educational solutions to meet future workforce and stakeholder needs, he is a campus leader in non-credit to credit bridges, corporate partnerships, stackable credentials, and prior learning assessment.
Serving in the capacity of dean for 91¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Division of Online & Continuing Education since 2022, he has extensive experience in competency-based education and creating educational pathways to enable mid-career professionals the opportunities to upskill and reskill. He and his team do this through mapping degree programs to labor market trends and collaborating across campus to build programming that fits students’ lives.
During his tenure, James developed a new strategic plan for the division and a campus-wide strategy for online education. He has also reorganized the division to create a more efficient business development and program creation process that is more responsive to employer needs. He has deep relationship-building experience with widely recognized companies and the facilitators who connect them to higher education, and he looks forward to maximizing those relationships with this new structure.
James has also led his division in creating an actionable strategy for online education. The strategy is built upon the pillars of quality, access and demand, program expansion and support. He partnered across campus to launch four new fully online programs in the fall of 2023 91¶ÌÊÓƵ. In addition, he worked with Weber State stakeholders to institute a new online tuition model for out-of-state students.
James believes that Weber State's unified commitment to innovative leadership within the changing landscape of higher education is crucial to executing the institution's mission.

Dr. Brenda Kowalewski
Dr. Brenda Marsteller Kowalewski is Vice Provost for High-Impact Educational Experiences, Faculty Excellence, International and Graduate Programs at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ (91¶ÌÊÓƵ) in Ogden, Utah. She earned her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1995. She has worked in higher education at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ ever since first as a faculty member in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology (1995-2016), where she served as program coordinator (2004-2006) before assuming a quasi-administrative role in community-based education (2006). In 2016, Kowalewski moved from faculty to a full-time administrator role in the Provost’s Office.
Kowalewski’s most significant administrative contributions to 91¶ÌÊÓƵ include co-founding Weber State’s nationally recognized Center for Community Engaged Learning (2007) and serving as principal writer for both of Weber State’s successful applications for the Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement (2008, 2015). In 2016, Kowalewski convened seven community anchor institutions and numerous ally community organizations to establish the Ogden Civic Action Network (OgdenCAN) to address health, housing and education challenges in the East Central Ogden neighborhood. Kowalewski established the Digital Fluency Council (2017) and later the Digital District (2021) at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ to promote a culture of digital fluency among students, faculty and staff. Under Kowalewski’s leadership 91¶ÌÊÓƵ became an Adobe Creative Campus (2021). Additionally, Kowalewski and a team of dedicated campus faculty and staff launched the Wildcat Advantage program (2022) incentivizing students to engage in at least two high impact educational experiences (HIEEs) before graduating. And with the support of the high impact offices and centers across campus, Kowalewski designed and implemented an infrastructure for designating HIEEs to help students more easily identify and access high impact experiences at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ. These designations have created a critical data architecture that allows 91¶ÌÊÓƵ to measure the impact of HIEEs on student Success.
Dr. Kowalewski is a Brady Presidential Distinguished Professor of Sociology who has conducted research focused on gender role attitudes, gender wage gap, and gender stereotypes. She has conducted community-based research projects with and for numerous community organizations, including Youth Impact, United Way of Northern Utah, Mt. Ogden Junior High School, and the Ogden Housing Authority. Dr. Kowalewski has authored numerous articles, book chapters and teaching toolkits for implementing community engaged learning pedagogy in college courses. Kowalewski has won multiple awards and national acclaim for her community engaged scholarly work and leadership in higher education.

Dr. Kwon began his career as an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of La Verne. Since that time, he moved through the faculty ranks to earn tenure and held a number of administrative positions, including the Interim Chair of Sociology and Anthropology, Director of the Honors Program, and Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. More recently, he held different positions in the Office of the Provost, including Assistant Provost of Undergraduate Programs, Associate Provost of Faculty Affairs, Interim Provost, and Vice Provost.
Dr. Kwon received his bachelor’s from the University of California, Irvine, and his Master’s and Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside. As a quantitative sociologist with specializations in organizations and institutions, as well as political economy and social change, his areas of teaching and research revolve around the topics of economic sociology, income inequality, and world-systems analysis.
In terms of his personal life, he enjoys quality time with his wife, Susan, and two-year-old son, Henry. Specifically, he finds himself spending much of his recent free time at playgrounds, children’s museums, and zoos.

Dr. Jessica Oyler
Dr. Jessica Oyler has over 15 years of experience at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ and has held several key positions. These include serving as the Associate Provost for Enrollment Management and Student Success, Assistant Vice President for Human Resources, Executive Director of Student Affairs Strategic Initiatives, and Student Affairs Assessment Coordinator. She is also an adjunct faculty member for the First Year Experience and Master of Education programs.
Throughout her career, Jessica has spearheaded numerous student success initiatives at Weber State through collaborations with staff and faculty across campus. She staunchly supports the institution's commitment to high-quality educational experiences, open-access education, and faculty and staff engagement in the community. She has co-authored and co-edited two books on assessment in student affairs and presented at numerous national conferences.
Jessica earned her Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education from the University of Arkansas, her Master's in Postsecondary Educational Leadership from San Diego State University, and her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Utah. Dr. Oyler enjoys hiking, golfing, and watching various sports in her free time. She has four children: a Weber State graduate, two current Weber State students, and one future Wildcat.

Julie Snowball
Julie Snowball has spent the majority of her career at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ (91¶ÌÊÓƵ) serving in a number of capacities, including career and technical education, community and economic development, university advancement, continuing education and 91¶ÌÊÓƵ liaison to the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Olympics. In her current position as AVP of Strategic Regional Partnerships, Julie is responsible for creating meaningful partnerships for the university to assist students in helping them reach their full potential both in and out of the classroom. In this work, she oversees the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Davis campus, career and technical education, regional career pathway development, post-secondary dual enrollment, educational partnerships and aerospace and defense relations.
Julie is active in the community and currently serves as the Chair of the Top of Utah Military Affairs Committee, Chair-elect of the Davis Chamber of Commerce, and member of the Executive Board of the Ogden-Weber Chamber of Commerce. She is also an Honorary Commander with the 388th Fighter Wing at Hill Air Force Base and is active on many other community boards and organizations.
As an alum of 91¶ÌÊÓƵ, Julie received her Associates and Bachelor of Integrated Studies degrees. She also received her MPA degree and doctoral studies from the University of Utah. In her spare time, Julie enjoys spending time with her family, supporting the community, gardening and golfing.

As the Executive Director of Sponsored Projects and Technology Commercialization at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ, James leads a dynamic team dedicated to fostering research excellence, securing funding for groundbreaking projects, and translating innovative technologies from research labs to the marketplace.
James holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Utah State University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) and the Society of Research Administrators (SRA).
Andrea Easter-Pilcher

Dr. Easter-Pilcher joined 91¶ÌÊÓƵ (91¶ÌÊÓƵ) as the Dean of the College of Science and Professor in the Department of Zoology in August of 2018. Prior to her appointment at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ, Dr. Easter-Pilcher spent 10 years at St. George’s University (SGU) in Grenada, West Indies, where, most recently, she served as the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. Before her appointment at SGU, Dr. Easter-Pilcher was a tenured Professor of Wildlife and Conservation Biology in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Montana-Western. Dr. Easter-Pilcher received her B.A. from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. She earned her M.Sc. in Wildlife Biology from the University of Montana in Missoula and her Ph.D. in the Biological Sciences (Conservation Biology) with Statistics as a supporting field from Montana State University in Bozeman. In 1995, Dr. Easter-Pilcher received a Postdoctoral Research Scientist Appointment in Wildlife Ecology at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Dr. Easter-Pilcher’s research has focused on the conservation and restoration of threatened species and ecosystems around the globe. She has a 25-year track record of working across state and international boundaries to facilitate collaborative solutions to issues inherent in the human-wildlife interface. As a wildlife and conservation biologist, she has been able to lead and be involved in exciting wildlife research and conservation efforts all over the world. Her research projects have included snare-trapping and radio–tracking grizzly bears in northwestern Montana for an aversive conditioning project (teach bears to stay away from human habitation), to acting as a biological and statistical consultant on a research project examining the effects of eco-tourism and climate change on declining Adelie penguin populations in Antarctica, to being the Principle Investigator on a biodiversity restoration project driven by the reintroduction of beavers into the Volga-Kama National Nature Preserve in Russia. She has been involved in multiple wildlife and marine research efforts across the Caribbean region, from wildlife trafficking (parrots and sea turtles) to coral reef restoration efforts to working with critically endangered and endemic island birds. She has also been in the field in the Russian Far East with Russian colleagues, radio tracking and/or setting up camera traps for Siberian tigers, Amur leopards and Musk deer.
Dr. Easter-Pilcher served as a delegate representing the country of Grenada at the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna (CITES) for the Convention of the Parties (CoP) 16 in Bangkok, Thailand and CoP 17 in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has secured multiple grant awards, has several publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and books and has given numerous presentations on her research at professional conferences. She notes that, while she remains passionate about her research and has enjoyed writing about and presenting that research to a variety of professional and non-professional groups, her greatest pleasure has come from watching her students emerge as leaders in the wildlife and conservation global arena.

Dr. David Ferro graduated with a BS degree in Computer Science from the University of Lowell in 1984, wrote educational video games while going to school, and after graduating, worked in companies such as Lotus Development, McGraw-Hill Data Resources Incorporated (DRI), Unisys and Iomega. He received his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech in 2001 in Science and Technology Studies and was a professor in Computer Science at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ (91¶ÌÊÓƵ) from 2001 to 2011. He co-wrote an introductory textbook on computer science (2 editions), a history of computing (2 editions) and edited a book on the intersection of computing and science fiction. He became the Dean of the College of Applied Science and Technology at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ in 2011.
While at Weber State, he has been involved in and sponsored numerous service learning and outreach activities, has helped facilitate multiple new B.S. and M.S. programs, increased enrollment by over 100%, brought in considerable fiscal and community support, constructed two new buildings and is rebuilding a third, and stood up Miller Advanced Research and Solutions with considerable assistance from the state of Utah - a center synthesizing industrial and government needs, student experiences, and applied research.

Doris Geide-Stevenson
Doris Geide-Stevenson is an economist with extensive experience in various academic leadership roles. She obtained the degree of Diplom-Volkswirt from the University of Würzburg, Germany, in 1986. In 1995, she graduated from the State University of Buffalo, New York, with a Ph.D. in economics. Doris Geide-Stevenson joined the faculty of 91¶ÌÊÓƵ in 1996. She is a Professor of Economics and served nine years as the Department Chair of economics, three terms as the Faculty Senate Chair, and, most currently a three-year term as the Interim Dean for the Goddard School of Business & Economics.
Her research started out with a focus on international trade and migration in the context of different social policies among countries. More recently, her work has moved to the area of teaching and pedagogy. Her research has been published in journals such as the Review of International Economics, the Journal of Population Economics and the Journal of Economic Education. Her most recent work was featured in the Economist.
She has taught for the economics and MBA programs at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ with a focus on Global Macroeconomic Conditions, International Finance and Research Methods in Economics.
As the Interim Dean of the Goddard School of Business & Economics, she facilitated successful AACSB re-accreditation in spring 2023 91¶ÌÊÓƵ.

Dr. Cass Morgan joined 91¶ÌÊÓƵ in 2013 as an assistant professor in outdoor and community recreation education. Before her time at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ, she served as an assistant professor of parks and recreation management at Western Carolina University. During her eight-year tenure as program director at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ (2013-2021), Dr. Morgan played a pivotal role in transforming the recreation minor into a bachelor’s degree with multiple emphases. She also collaborated across campus to create interdisciplinary degree pathways and international education opportunities.
Throughout her career, Dr. Morgan has taught nearly 30 courses and received numerous accolades for her dedication to project-based learning and undergraduate research, including recognition as an Outstanding Undergraduate Research Mentor and as an Honors Eccles Fellow. Her teaching and research are centered around using outdoor and environmental education as a catalyst for fostering environmental stewardship.
In 2020, Dr. Morgan was appointed associate dean, where she oversaw the management of the Stromberg Complex and contributed to the college's strategic planning efforts. She also spearheaded the development of a leadership program aimed at strengthening support systems within the college. In 2021, she completed the Utah System for Higher Education Women’s Leadership Exchange fellowship.
Dr. Morgan holds a Ph.D. in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism from the University of Utah, a master's in Recreation Services and Facilities Administration from East Carolina University, and a bachelor's degree in Outdoor Education from Montreat College.

Wendy Holliday is Dean of the Library at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ in Ogden, UT. Prior to joining her colleagues at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ, she served as Head of Teaching, Learning, and Research Services at Cline Library, Northern Arizona University (2013-2017) and Coordinator of Library Instruction at Utah State University (2004-2013). Before becoming a librarian, she was the Hopi Tribal Archivist and a historian. She holds an MLS from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. in history from New York University.

Dr. Julie Rich serves as the Dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Science at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ (91¶ÌÊÓƵ). With three decades of dedicated teaching under her belt at Weber, she transitioned to full-time administrative leadership in 2019 as Interim Dean, and by 2021, she was appointed Dean. Dr. Rich is not just an educator; she's a fervent champion for education, a beacon for effective mentoring, and an unwavering advocate for student success. Her extensive teaching journey underscored the profound importance of mentorship, leading her to actively involve students in her groundbreaking research on world deserts and Paleoclimatology.
Boasting a rich tapestry of international experiences, Dr. Rich has ventured through over 100 countries and resided abroad for more than eight years. Her commitment to experiential learning is demonstrated as she conducts high-impact, community-engaged initiatives for 91¶ÌÊÓƵ students in countries like Rwanda, Mozambique, Uganda, Peru, Thailand, Ghana, and Fiji. These transformative projects not only aim to combat poverty but also champion education for women and children. Dr. Rich's global insights have earned her the privilege of consulting at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
Her academic journey is equally impressive, with an undergraduate degree from Weber State, a Master’s from the University of Utah, and a Doctorate from the prestigious University of Oxford, England. Her scholarly contributions include peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Quaternary Science Reviews, Aeolian Research, Quaternary Research, and the Geological Society of America. Recognitions and accolades throughout her career include the H. Aldous Dixon Award, Hemingway Faculty Excellence Award, Hemingway Collaborative Awards, Red Cross International Hero, John A. Lindquist Award, Crystal Crest Master Teacher, and the esteemed Gwen Williams Prize.

Yasmen Simonsian
Dr. Yasmen Simonian joined the faculty of 91¶ÌÊÓƵ (91¶ÌÊÓƵ) in 1981 as an Assistant Professor in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, and has been the Dean of the Dr. Ezekiel R. Dumke College of Health Professions since 2008. She served as Department Chair for the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences from 1996 to 2008. In addition to chairing and teaching medical laboratory sciences she and her colleagues pioneered the development and delivery of the first entirely online medical laboratory sciences program in the nation.
As Dean, she oversees ten departments and schools and has helped expand the programs offered going from one master’s degree program to six and one doctorate degree program, the first doctorate degree at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ.
Dr. Simonian has received the Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award from the Dumke College of Health Professions three times, and was honored as the 2004 Crystal Crest Master Teacher. In 2005, Simonian received 91¶ÌÊÓƵ’s John S. Hinckley award for excellence in teaching, service and scholarship, and later that year was recognized as Utah’s Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. In 2007, she was the first woman appointed as a 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Brady Presidential Distinguished Professor. She was appointed as an Honorary Commander at Hill Air Force Base in 2018, and received 91¶ÌÊÓƵ’s H. Aldous Dixon Award in 2021. In 2022, she was one of the honorees of the Utah Business Women of the Year, and most recently, was honored as the 2023 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Girl Scouts of Utah STEM Champion.
Dr. Simonian serves on several professional boards globally and is the author of numerous articles in professional journals and regularly presents at state, regional, national and international conferences on hematology, education, supervision and management topics.
Yas was born in Iran to an Armenian family, and they immigrated to the United States in 1967 for a better life and education. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in medical laboratory sciences and her doctoral degree in patient education and counseling from the College of Health at the University of Utah.
She is passionate about education and loves working with students. She still teaches the Clinical Correlations class for the School of Radiologic Sciences master’s degree program while serving as dean.
She loves all things Greek and Armenian, dancing, and spending time with those she loves.

Deborah Uman serves as Dean of the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities. Before coming to Weber, she was Chair of the Department of English at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY (2004-2020) and Assistant Professor of English at Eastern Connecticut State University (2000-2004). She received her BA from Yale University and her MA and Ph.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her research focuses on Shakespeare, women writers and translators and public humanities. Her most recent book, co-edited with Jennifer Flaherty, is Liberating Shakespeare: Adaptation and Empowerment for Young Adult Audiences. Deborah also plays trumpet in several local groups, including Chamber Orchestra Ogden, New American Philharmonic and Ogden City Concertband.
