Articulation Agreement
Between 91¶ÌÊÓƵ and Northern Virginia Community College
- Purpose
- 91¶ÌÊÓƵ, (91¶ÌÊÓƵ), will guarantee admission to Northern Virginia Community College, (NOVA), students according to the terms of this Agreement. The purpose of the Articulation Agreement is to coordinate transfer policies, enhance advising, and promote the acceptance of equivalent courses/credits between 91¶ÌÊÓƵ and NOVA. The Articulation Agreement facilitates a clear pathway for admission to NOVA students who intend to graduate NOVA with an Associate of Applied Science, (AAS), in Automotive Technology and transfer directly to 91¶ÌÊÓƵ to earn their baccalaureate degree.
- Terms and Conditions
- 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Practices
- As an open enrollment institution, 91¶ÌÊÓƵ accepts applications from NOVA students to pursue any degree program at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ. Transferring NOVA applicants must meet the same general admissions criteria as other students applying for transfer to 91¶ÌÊÓƵ. Students transferring from NOVA to the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ BS- Automotive Technology program must meet the same prerequisites, grade point average (GPA) and other specific admissions criteria, as other native or transfer students applying to this specific 91¶ÌÊÓƵ program.
- Acceptance and Application of Credits
- General Education. Students completing an AAS in Automotive Technology at NOVA will have partially fulfilled the General Education requirements at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ. AA or AS at NOVA will generally be considered to have met all lower division general education requirements at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ. However, students completing an AA or AS at NOVA may have their transcripts reviewed by 91¶ÌÊÓƵ to assure they have successfully completed relevant courses in three specific Core Areas: Written Communication, Quantitative Literacy, and American Institutions. While 91¶ÌÊÓƵ will honor associate degrees, deficiencies found in one or more of the three Core Areas may need to be addressed.
- Where course equivalencies exist for required courses and/or prerequisites, these courses will apply to 91¶ÌÊÓƵ graduation requirements in the student's stated major field of study.
- College-level course credits and grades accepted by 91¶ÌÊÓƵ are transferable. Grades of F, I, or U will be considered failing grades generating 0.0 points in the incoming starting 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Cumulative GPA calculation.
- 91¶ÌÊÓƵ will evaluate courses/credits listed on NOVA transcript that were awarded through Advanced Placement (AP), College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), DSST exams, and courses/credits earned at other institutions. The student must submit separate transcripts or exam results documents to 91¶ÌÊÓƵ. If requested by the student, 91¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Automotive Technology Department will evaluate Prior Learning Activity for Credit Evaluation and other life experiences for possible credit.
- 91¶ÌÊÓƵ will maintain course equivalency information and make this information readily available to NOVA.
- Students transferring from NOVA will be required to complete a minimum of 30 semester hours of 91¶ÌÊÓƵ coursework to be eligible for the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ bachelor’s degree.
- 91¶ÌÊÓƵ will not use grades accepted as transfer credit in the calculation of the student’s 91¶ÌÊÓƵ cumulative grade point average. These credits, however, will be included in the calculation of a student’s total attempted/earned credits.
-
91¶ÌÊÓƵ reserves the right to evaluate the transferability of all automotive technology coursework.
-
It is the responsibility of the student to notify 91¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Transfer Articulation Office when exercising this agreement to ensure the credits are appropriately transferred.
-
