Internships are a great way to gain valuable experience, exercise existing skills, apply knowledge from your coursework, and gain new skills and knowledge. The earlier and more often you complete internships, the more likely you'll get the job!
We’re here to help you complete an internship (INT) designated course or co-curricular program, or participate in other career exploration and professional development.
What is an internship?
An internship is defined as experiential education where students combine classroom learning with practical skills and application within a professional workplace setting. If your internship fits the requirements, you may earn academic credit for your declared major when the learning during an internship is related to your major and/or career interests.
There are many types of internships:- Paid / Unpaid
- For credit / Not for credit
- Semester-long / Year-long
- On-campus / Off-campus
Whatever type of internship you get, the goal is the same: to gain valuable knowledge, skills, experiences, and a stronger network of relationships that can help you land a job in your desired career path.
Finding Internships
As a 91¶ÌÊÓƵ (91¶ÌÊÓƵ) student and alum, you can access internship opportunities in your field of study in three ways:
- Through Wildcat Handshake in your eWeber portal
- Your college's assigned Career Counselor
- Most 91¶ÌÊÓƵ majors have designated Internship Coordinators to help you find internship opportunities and may teach internship courses specific to majors
