Submissions

NULC Deadlines, Categories and Criteria 

 Deadlines

» Submissions for the National Undergraduate Literature Conference will be accepted beginning November 15, 2024, and close February 15, 2025. Submissions should consist of a 300-500-word abstract; see specifics below. Previously, NULC has asked for full works to be submitted, however due to the volume of submissions, please submit ONLY an abstract.

  • Creative Works in Spanish

Creative Works

  • Memoir (biographical or autobiographical essay)
  • Creative Nonfiction
  • Fiction
  • Poetry 

Criteria

Participants must be undergraduate students enrolled during the 2023 91¶ÌÊÓƵ–2024 academic year and have not yet attended graduate school.
Submission must be original work.
Abstracts should be roughly 350-500 words and address the following: 

  1. Title and Name of Presenter
  2. Name of Endorsing Professor 
  3. Name of College or University
  4. Subject and Scope of Paper
  5. Conclusions

The endorsing professor should review the full paper, poems, essays, fiction, etc. before students attend the conference. Each presenter will have a maximum of 15 minutes to make their presentation. Original poetry submissions have a three-poem minimum and five-poem maximum. Those presenting poetry or any other creative work will have the same 15-minute reading limit. 

Students are encouraged to be creative in presentations of their work and might consider using presentation software to present key points from their work, though reading a paper is also welcome. AV Equipment is available in each session for presenters who would like to use technology as part of their presentation/reading.

You will be contacted via email if your work is accepted for presentation.
At that point, you will be invited to register for the conference.

            

February 15 - March 25, 2025 (Regular Registration, $140)
March 26 - April 2, 2025 (Late Registration, $150)

Registration opportunities may be limited after March 25, 2025.
