Award Categories
Frantz Family Research Endowment
One award per year is available to undergraduate students with a 12 credit-hour minimum load that have their declared major in the College of Science at the time of application. Preference is given to qualifying students with a demonstrated financial need where they can show that the award will allow them to decrease hours worked on jobs or increase their ability to stay in school, while taking into account other scholarships, fellowships, awards or stipends.
Thompson Science Research Program
Funds are available for stipends for one or more student researchers as well as research project material expenses that are outlined in a faculty-approved research project budget. Proposals are also accepted to help defray publication fees to disseminate co-authored research publications and student and faculty travel expenses to disseminate the results of research at professional conferences.
Jim S. Bateman Undergraduate Research Fund
Funding is available to defray the costs of College of Science student field camps, science related study abroad research experiences, science-related internships, fellowships for undergraduate research and undergraduate research material costs.
Pope M. and Grace C. Burkhart Undergraduate Research Fellowship
Fellowships are awarded to qualifying students in the College of Science on a competitive basis to support their projects in undergraduate research, providing Weber State students with the opportunity to receive compensation for their research experiences rather than having to find temporary employment unrelated to their education. Students can begin their projects either during the fall and spring terms and can also continue their work over the summer months which provides valuable support and access to faculty who are engaged in long-term studies.
