Nutrition Education

Learn all aspects of nutrition, from diet design to current issues, and prepare for graduate studies or a wide range of careers.

The Nutrition Education faculty members have made the highest commitment to providing students with quality academic experiences. Our curriculum develops diverse skills, knowledge, and competencies in the area of nutrition.

Concentrations

The Nutrition Education baccalaureate program includes two concentrations. Students must finish one to graduate, though they may complete both.

Integrative Nutrition

In this concentration, which can be completed fully online, students will study several nutrition topics related to sustainable cooking, nutrition through  the lifespan, fitness, and current issues, as well as integrating knowledge and expertise through the completion of elective courses in selected related disciplines like Botany, Child and Family Studies, Communications, Exercise and Sport Science, Health, Microbiology, Physical Education, Psychology, and/or Professional Sales.

Sports Nutrition

In this concentration, students will study sports nutrition, diet therapy, advanced human nutrition, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, and other related subjects in athletic training, exercise and sport science, physical education and/or psychology. Students interested in graduate studies in medicine, PA, or dietetics should strongly consider completing this program.

Nutrition Education Minor

Leave 91¶ÌÊÓƵ as an expert in diet and nutrition. Our nutrition education minor (available fully online or in-person) offers knowledge and skills to complement majors in Health Promotion, Exercise and Sport Science, Psychology, Chemistry, Early Childhood Education, Family Studies, and many other disciplines.

How to Become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)

Your 91¶ÌÊÓƵ bachelor’s degree in nutrition education with an emphasis in sports nutrition and completion of additional suggested courses prepares you for graduate programs that provide knowledge and training for the Registered Dietician examination.

Meet with your advisor to find out what courses will best prepare you for the following programs:

  • The  offers a coordinated master's degree in dietetics.
  • The  offers a coordinated program in dietetics, a didactic program in dietetics and a master’s of dietetics administration program.

The  approves the university course curriculum in dietetic programs and administers the standardized and required Registered Dietician exam.
